Yarn Along

Well, my first Christmas gift of 2012 is complete! I finished up my niece’s hat on the weekend and quickly cast on another one for one of my other nieces. After this hat there is still one more niece and a nephew to knit one up for.
On the reading front this week I have a few things on the go. The Coyote’s Guide to Connecting with Nature is still making a regular appearance in my reading. My doula workbook and I are becoming very fast friends and I have also been reading Birth Matters by Ina May Gaskin. And I totally agree with her...birth does matter.
What are you knitting and reading this week?

    1. It does. I first read Ina May when I was pregnant too. It was her words that gave me the confidence to trust my body and birth at home...will be forever grateful for those words.

  10. I got my first copy of Spiritual Midwifery at 19 and knew that I'd want a home birth. Almost 20 years later, we did it! Successful home birth. I saw Ina May speak here in CO, just a month or so after. She's quite a character and full of great stories.

    1. She is amazing!! I saw her speak in Toronto a year ago and it was perfection. Her life, what she has achieved and her desire to make birth what it is...natural is truly amazing. It was because of her that I had the strength and confidence to trust in my body and birth at home too.

  13. The hat looks wonderful and the new yarn is a very pretty color. I am going to the library to find The Coyote Guide this week. The new books sound interesting. I never thought too much about birthing when pregnant with my first child and with the second I have evolved in my beliefs. Who knows where it will take me when we have more children. But I do know the experience of birthing is something I wouldn't change for the world.

    1. Thanks, I am really liking the new yarn and think my niece will love the colour.

Let me know if you find the book at the library.

Agree with you on the experience of birthing, wouldn't change it for anything.
