Mothering with Mindfulness Sponsor - Charitable Influence

Today I would like to introduce you to one of my May sponsors Heidi and Fadra of Charitable Influence.

Tell us a little bit about Charitable Influence

Charitable Influence is working to connect charities and non profit organizations to bloggers and their influential voices. Bloggers have voices that resonate far, and we are happy to be able to help the two form a relationship that can help spread the message of a cause.

What inspired you to create Charitable Influence?

I started my blog, The Conscious Perspective nearly a year ago, and I was happy to be able to include an aspect that could focus on humanitarian efforts throughout the world. The whole project evolved naturally when I realized that one voice can contribute to making a change in the world. I knew that at this point in my life, being a hands on relief worker was not an option and so for a period of time, I felt helpless. Once I realized I could use my platform and my voice to raise awareness, I knew this was the path for me. My partner Fadra Nally felt similar, so we decided to put our ideas together and launch Charitable Influence.

Your mission at Charitable Influence is to “Change the World”, what does this change look like?

Fadra and I are very realistic, but we are both hopeful. We understand the layers upon layers of challenges that the 7 billion inhabitants of the world currently face - and we understand that there is no one fits all solution.

I can appreciate some people reading may think that is a bold statement, to "Change the World". Changing the world to me, on a very basic level, is changing the way that we as humans view each other, to create more compassion. My hope is that we can, at the very least, contribute to breaking down the facade that we are all separate from each other and show that we are all one family, we are interconnected.

What issues are you focused on at Charitable Influence?

We have a long list of issues including Communicable Diseases, Maternal and Newborn Health, Animal Welfare, and many more. We are always adding more organizations to our list of partners, and with this list, the opportunity to match bloggers and their passions to nonprofits increases.

What role will bloggers play in bringing these issues to light?

We have major plans in store for the bloggers who have joined. One very important element to the work we are doing is the fact that bloggers will have relationships with these charities. Not just one-off campaigns, but form actual relationships. We'll be divulging our plans soon!

How does a blogger become involved with Charitable Influence?

It is a simple process; you can visit our "Join" page and fill out your information.  You will be added to our list and receive updates from us whenever we have campaigns, etc.

Now a little about you Heidi:

Favourite spot in your home is.... Living room. Huge windows everywhere!

Currently reading... "Non-Violence - The History of a Dangerous Idea” by Mark Kurlansky. Just digging in now!

Currently listening to.... I just wrapped "Behind the Beautiful Forevers" by Katherine Boo. A fascinating look into the slums of Mumbai.

Currently creating.... a backyard from scratch! Planning landscape design.

Highlight of your week is.... Saturdays spent with the family.

You have one hour to yourself, you spend it... Writing, brainstorming, writing!

Dream at the top of your bucket list is... Good question. I am not 100% sure it's a dream, but what I most hope for is to raise my three boys to become compassionate, creative, open-minded men that have the inner knowing that they are not different from anyone, and we are all interconnected. It truly is the most important thing to me.

Favourite quote... "My religion is very simple... My religion is kindness" - His Holiness the Dalai Lama

Thanks so much for taking the time to chat with us Heidi and Fadra, it was wonderful getting to know you both a bit better and really exciting to hear about Charitable Influence.
