  1. That looks like a lovely day full of making. I love the painting in the cutters idea, and your creams/balms/lotions look beautiful and soothing - I'm guessing you've made them with herbs or other ingredients from the garden? And your last photo looks interesting too - home schooling planning or Summer camp or something else?

    1. It was! I can't take credit for the painting with the cookie cutters. Reece and I made cookies just before this, and he found them while I was putting the cookie sheets in the oven. He played with them for a bit and then asked for the paint. I just sat back and watched it happen :)

Thank you, that is body butter, and it is wonderful, if I do say so myself :) One for me, and one for a swap exchange I am participating in, and one for a customer. The little one was extras and I passed it on to my mom.

The evening was homeschool planning for the fall. I have all the basic work done, now to fill in the blanks a bit and get all my craft/handwork/nature study ideas together. Fun stuff!

    2. That is right, this would be the year that Reece starts "kindergarten" right? How I envy the prep phase... I always LOVED research. When I was in school (all the way to my master's in university) I always loved the info-gathering part the best. I'm so looking forward to you sharing your homeschooling activities. Although I won't be homeschooling in the proper sense of the word. I plan on time at home being all about natural learning. :-)

    3. We actually did our first year of kindergarten last year, so this will be our second year. If he were in public school he would actually be going into grade 1. We use the Waldorf philosophy at home which doesn't believe in early academics. Kindergarten is for ages 4 to 6, and grade 1 starts at 7. We enjoyed our first year of kindergarten, and not much changes for the second year, but I am adding in a bit of nature study, simple things, and lots of nature journaling. Oh, and looking to take his handwork a little further.

  2. What a lovely day! I never thought of painting using cookie cutters, what a great idea! We have that woodland animals set from IKEA, how fun would that be? I just found tonight's crafting activity for sure, Thanks!

Your products look amazing. I can almost smell them from here. :-)

Wishing you nothing but more lovely days all week long. xo

  3. My little one did water paint yesterday too! The butter cream looks wonderful! And I love your last photo. Especially the way you make the "calendar." I am in homeschool planning mode....although this is our first year so I am overwhelmed and haven't gotten anything concrete down on paper. Or in my head really. I'm already behind and we haven't even started!
I joined in this week too. I forgot an afternoon picture so I really have two evening pictures, but I am still linking up! :-)

    1. You are never behind because our children are always learning, even if we don't plan :) I start with my journal, writing down things that pop into my mind...crafts, handwork, etc and then I sit down for more concrete planning..circle time verses and songs, nature study ideas/themes, and pin down the crafts, handwork and recipes for baking. If you need help, just shout, I love this stuff :)

      Thanks for playing along.

  8. A beautiful and productive day. Filing away Reece's cookie cutter painting idea for later (you can also wet felt inside them to make pretty ornaments), Your salves have such a beautiful color. I will start drying our herbs soon. Thinking of making a yarrow salve to fight sun damage (IE freckles). What do you think? DO you sell a slave for sun damaged skin? I might have to ask you for help on lesson planning. We are planning ahead for Panda right now and my head just feels woolly thinking of everything that must happen for preschool and state regulations.

    1. Thank you. Yes, I know, we learned that from you, and we did it this year with these exact cookie cutters. The kids loved doing it, and it is the plan for next year again :)

Thank you, since playing with my recipe a bit, I have been able to get a lovely colour and I really like it.

I am not sure on the yarrow for sun damage, I would have to look it up. I use yarrow in my healing salve, it has excellent healing properties for cuts, scrapes and burns. I also dry it for tea...great for fevers. I don't sell a salve for sun damage...yet :)

No problem at all, ask away, happy to share my process and what I do planning wise. Just shout when you are ready. That is something we don't have to worry about here, no regulations for us at all as long as our children are receiving an education they don't bother us.

  13. Love the cookie cutter painting! My girls would love that! :)

After our chat on Facebook (which, by the way, feels so not the same without you) I planned out our year! It felt so good to get it laid out! Thank you for the encouragement! I don't think I'm going to plan the whole year out though. Either I'll go week by week or block by block or month by month. I need to see what feels right. I am so glad that we get to walk this path together! xo

    1. I bet they would Shel!

Awe, thanks Shel. And way to go, that is awesome. I don't plan the whole year at once. The two painted papers above..one is our week rhythm in a two week rotation, and the other with the twelve blocks, is the year. On that one I write down the festivals we will celebrate, birthdays, and our themes for the month. I also add in seasonal books we might read at that time and any craft ideas I have. I then have a little circle time booklet and a larger notebook for more in depth planning. I am finalizing September now, and will get October, November and December done before we start in September. Throughout the fall I will work on the winter months.

Happy to be sharing this path with you my friend. xo

    2. Thank you for expanding a little bit in the painted papers! I like that idea...that is where I get held up a lot....how to put everything down in a nice neat way so I can see it at a glance. Beginning from scratch is holding me back. I need to just begin. I don't want to overthink all this but I don't want to mess up either. This is my little ones education and it is very important!

    3. You are very welcome. Planning this way came from a few different sources, and then I pieced together something that worked well for me. It is hard to start from scratch, especially without direction of any sort. I am glad it helped. And like I said any questions at all feel free to email me, always happy to help.
