Simple Things

A little list of the simple things enjoyed this weekend:

:: slow mornings
:: time with friends
:: watching the robins frolick in the puddles
:: time to be creative
:: cups and cups of tea
:: new rain boots
:: meals made from scratch
:: after dinner walks
:: holding my little mans hand as he drifted off to sleep
:: watching the birds at our backyard feeders
:: homemade chocolate...so divine
:: candles at mealtime
:: enjoying meals, together, as a family
:: food from last years garden still nourishing us
:: pancakes topped with our maple syrup
:: handwriting letters to friends
:: the sound of my little man laughing
:: a walk in the woods, just the three of us
:: a soak in the tub
:: time at the end of the day to sit and be

I started this list on Saturday morning, just a way for me to find, in my days, the little things that make me happy. With each visit to add something to the list I could feel the gratitude inside of me growing. My life is filled to the brim with goodness, filled, I tell you. It really is the little things, those simple things, enjoyed on a day to day basis that make life so darn good. I am blessed to be living this life, a life we have chosen. It isn't grand by society standards, but it is grand by our standards.

What simple things have you been enjoying lately?

  1. Love those boots
    My few simple things would be family walks, a fluffy hot chocolate while waking up in the dark morning, watching the firelight, kissing my little one when she's sleeping - her chubby sleeping cheeks. My feet in sheepskin boots.

  2. What a wonderful list. First thing on my list this morning would be the first on your list, slow mornings. Since it's holiday time, hurray! In fact slow mornings with cuddles and reading in bed with the girls, even better! And I like the sound of the divine homemade chocolate! That sounds like it needs a blog post to itself???

    You know that my word for 2014 is simple, and this is a great reminder to slow down and notice all of the wonderful simple moments ...... even on the busiest of days. Keeping a list is a great idea, might be something l need to do too.
    As for simple pleasures l have been enjoying lately - high on the list would be fresh flowers. This year l've made a big effort to have more in the house, and it's been lovely.

  4. We enjoyed the first significant time in our garden this season! And a beekeeping workshop, which has me hooked. We're going to wait until we are settled in one place, in the next year or so we hope, but I see bees in our future.

    I'm a bit jealous of your maple syrup and your rain boots. xo

  7. Great boots! I need a good pair of wellies to follow my daughter into those puddles!

    Simple things : Planting seeds, my husband playing guitar, that first sip of a hot cup of tea, cracking open the windows after months of being cooped up.

    Taking pleasure and finding contentment in the simple thins are truly the secret to everlasting happiness. Have a wonderful day!

    1. Thanks, that is exactly what they are for. My old ones had holes in them, not so good when you are playing in the creek or jumping in puddles :)

      Lovely list my friend.

      So very true, only wish more people knew the secret :)
