Heading to the Woods

A weekend doesn't usually pass without us spending some time in the woods. Last week we headed just a little bit south and found spring bursting forth from the earth. This week we stuck a little closer to home, and well, as you can see, winter is still hanging on. It is amazing what a 20 minute drive can do around here.

Believe it or not, we have not visited this lovely little spot in years, as in 10, maybe 12 years. Crazy, right? I am not sure why we stopped, but I am so glad we decided to head there on Sunday. The trail meanders beside a creek, in and out of meadow and forest, over bridges and back around to where we started. It was a  beautiful day, although there is a ton of snow, it was very mild. We traded our winter boots in for our rain boots, left the snow pants at home and enjoyed a lovely afternoon on the trail.

You can bet we will be heading back again, each season will be a surprise for us as we take time to explore this trail a little more this year.

  2. I love to return to favorite spots and see the changes. I would love to be in the woods today, but am stuck inside doing paper work, my least favorite thing to do.

    1. It is, finally. Our winters have not been this long in quite some time, this has been a particularly harsh one. In fact, it has been about 15 years since we have seen this much snow. Here's hoping it is another 15 before we see this much again :)
