Heading to the Woods
A weekend doesn't usually pass without us spending some time in the woods. Last week we headed just a little bit south and found spring bursting forth from the earth. This week we stuck a little closer to home, and well, as you can see, winter is still hanging on. It is amazing what a 20 minute drive can do around here.
Believe it or not, we have not visited this lovely little spot in years, as in 10, maybe 12 years. Crazy, right? I am not sure why we stopped, but I am so glad we decided to head there on Sunday. The trail meanders beside a creek, in and out of meadow and forest, over bridges and back around to where we started. It was a beautiful day, although there is a ton of snow, it was very mild. We traded our winter boots in for our rain boots, left the snow pants at home and enjoyed a lovely afternoon on the trail.
You can bet we will be heading back again, each season will be a surprise for us as we take time to explore this trail a little more this year.

It is beautiful, and I had forgotten. Thanks Jennifer.Delete
I love to return to favorite spots and see the changes. I would love to be in the woods today, but am stuck inside doing paper work, my least favorite thing to do.ReplyDelete
I am kinda excited about it with this trail, can't wait to see how it changes. Something tells me this just might become a favourite place. Sorry about that Tracey. We are just getting ready to head into the woods, I will make sure to soak some up for you. xoDelete
Lovely, so good to see water moving again. It looks like someone is getting taller. Enjoy your rediscovered treasure. Be well.ReplyDelete
I agree with you on that one. And it is really moving with all the melt off :) He is, growing like a weed these days.Delete
We were just talking of a hike at a park we haven't been to in years, I'd love to go but it depends on his work, soon though!! I am happy to report that all of our snow is melted! Looks like yours has a way to go but it's misting melted-yay!!ReplyDelete
You must Karen, and then share it with us :) So nice that all your snow is melted, I think we will be there too, very soon. We have a few very warm days ahead and some rain...spring is here!Delete
Kim...what a beautiful spot! Sometimes we mean to return to a place that was so lovely, but returning now brings so much pleasure I'm sure :) m.ReplyDelete
Thank you Mari, it really is. I am not sure what pulled me to suggest we visit this spot on Sunday, but I am so glad we listened and went, such a wonderful hike and so much beauty.Delete
I love watching it get warmer and warmer according to how many layers Reece has on! :) What a beautiful place.ReplyDelete
Haha, yes, we are losing layers daily. It feels so good.Delete
Look it's finally starting to melt! :)ReplyDelete
I've really enjoyed following the seasons through your photos and words Kim. And cannot get over how long your winter is !!
Looks like a beautiful place to visit. xx
It is, finally. Our winters have not been this long in quite some time, this has been a particularly harsh one. In fact, it has been about 15 years since we have seen this much snow. Here's hoping it is another 15 before we see this much again :)Delete
What a beautiful spot! Reece looks taller and very grown up. xxooReplyDelete
Thanks Julie, it is beautiful. And yes, a little taller it seems every day, he won't stop growing :)Delete

I know, I can't either. But it is melting fast, should all be gone soon.Delete
When theres sun snow looks prettier! I love how everything looks like they are sparkling in your photo. Sun and snow are so perfect with each other here! #countrykidsReplyDelete
