A New Ritual

There are many things that bring a smile to my face, one of them is mail from a friend. I like to refer to them as "happy mail days". I have had some pretty awesome happy mail days...from little notes and postcards to packages containing nature treasures, an apron, a mug, books, tea and chocolate. All of these lovely gifts are around my home and every time I see them I think of the person who was kind enough to send them.

A few weeks ago this was brought to my attention and I thought why not. I know how happy I am to receive a hand written note from a friend and I am sure many of you feel the same way, and so a new ritual was born. On Sunday morning sometime between breakfast and lunch I sit down with a cup of tea, my stationary and my address book and I write a little note to someone. Then on Monday I put it in the mail.

It is a simple pleasure and one that so far, three weeks in, has brought great joy to my Sunday morning.

*******

P.S. If you like to receive little surprises in the mail be sure to email your address to me.

  9. My biggest dilemma in writing is finding nice stationary. I used to always get new stationary when I was young from my Aunts & Uncles. I miss it. =( These days I will just use something I have or occasionally create my own. Here is one I made. I need to make more. =) http://www.elisaloves.com/2011/02/pretty-stationary.html

  10. This is such a good idea to do once a week. I love to write letters but when I think of all the people I want to send notes to I get overwhelmed and then none are sent. I'm going to try this way!

  11. Oh Kim, what a wonderful idea.......I may steal it and start a new ritual as well. One or two a week, on a certain day, is a perfect way to plan it. And I do so love getting mail! I may write one this evening! Thanks for the inspiration. Love that stationary by the way!

  14. Sometimes I just laugh out loud at my computer because I was just saying to my husband the other day how nice it would be to sit down throughout the year send a little note to friends and family. Just to brighten their day. Great minds think alike! Wonderful idea!
