"A photo of my little man, once a week, every week, in 2015"
Reece, after spending most of the day outside, celebrating the arrival of spring, you came in from the mailbox with a big smile. Your magazine had arrived. As I put the kettle on, you settled in on your bed, flipping through the pages, lost in your own world, I am not even sure you head the click of my camera. This week you have shown great interest in learning to read. You have been copying words, and asking us what they say. You look at books, point at words, and wonder what they are. It is amazing to witness, to see you moving along your path, learning and growing, in your own way, and in your own time.

It says A lot about how much time you spend outside that I scarcely recognised Reece without his hat on! It must be so exciting to be at the point of reading - so many adventures await him:)
ReplyDeleteHaha, I know. We do spend a lot of time outside :) It is pretty exciting, we are not really doing much right now, just letting him play with the letters and the words. We will officially start grade 1 in September, and then get a little more serious.
DeleteWhat a lovely moment to cherish- he looks so engrossed! Love the quilt he's sitting on too...did you make it?
ReplyDeleteHe was pretty focused, like I said, didn't even notice I took the photo :)
DeleteNo, I didn't make the quilt. I have yet to make one, although one day I would like to give making one a try.
This image speaks volumes....
ReplyDeleteThis image "reads" volumes!
xo
:) Thank you Camilla.

It just throws me every week how big he has gotten so quickly! Hurray for wanting to read! My daughter has been copying words for the last 6 months, she is so anxious to learn. It,s wonderful to see their minds expand.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week-end Kim, happy Spring to you!
He is growing like a weed, and eating like a teenager :) It is lovely to watch it all come together, it will be a while before it "clicks" but seeing him enjoying books and words is wonderful.
DeleteYou too Yanic!
I love it when I'm able to catch our girls doing something they love! This is a really good picture of Reece and the quilt is awesome!
ReplyDeleteIt is a pretty special moment to catch :) Thank you Anke, I think it shows a different side of him, one I don't usually share too much around here.
DeleteI know I say it each week, but goodness he looks older here!
ReplyDeleteSuch a very special moment to catch! Good work, mama! Watching reading unfold is just incredible! Enjoy every moment, dear friend! xo
It seems great changes are happening with my little man right now, it is amazing to witness it all :)
DeleteIt is incredible Shel, and while I know it will be a slow process, it is exciting! xo
The photo speaks very clear about how Reece is growing, having every day more and more curiosity about everything surronding him. ... amazing all the stages they go through, my little girl, Ilianna is gonna be three the next thursday and it really amazes me how she says, do or react in a new way every day, so yes really amazing!!
ReplyDeleteLluisa xoxo
Thank you Lluisa,. It is amazing to see all the stages they go through, watching them discover the world. Three, wow!! Big birthday wishes to her, and happy birthing day to you. xo
DeleteLovely photo, and such an exciting time too, I love it when they start to be interested in reading and realise the potential of decoding all those letters.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sally. It is pretty amazing. The funny thing is I have just finished our homeschool plans for next year, and am so excited about all the wonderful things I will be bringing to him next year, reading being one of them. So much to look forward to as he moves along his path.
DeleteHe is growing so fast and each week seems older, love that he loves mags, both of mine did!!
ReplyDeleteWe are in the midst of lots of growth right now Karen, and I can't keep up :)
DeleteHe has been getting a magazine called High Five for a few years now, and he just loves it. His Godparents get it for him, and every month he waits patiently for its arrival.
He is looks so engrossed in what he is reading. I can hardly believe how fast he is growing up. I sometimes sit and look at pictures of my wee ones and marvel at how much they have changed in such a short time. It is truly a blessing to watch them grow.
ReplyDeleteHe was totally focused on it Kathleen, so nice to see. He is growing like crazy these days, it is wonderful to see, but goodness, some days I wish he would slow down.
DeleteTruly a blessing. xo
My girl has her own special subscription to a magazine herself. Now that she's reading, she loves when it comes in the mail and then hides away in her room with it as well! Great shot.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds just lovely. So wonderful to watch them transform before our eyes.
DeleteThanks!
absolutely wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Taryn!
DeleteDid his hair change color? It looks so much lighter.
ReplyDeleteNot really, it might be because it is longer...
DeleteAwesome pic. Love catching them deep in concentration, reading or just looking through books.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yes, totally, especially so for my little man, because he is often on the go non stop from the moment he gets up til he crashes at night, so seeing this makes my mama heart happy.
Deletea child learning to love the written word. such a wonderful thing to witness. i am curious what this magazine is... i have had trouble finding something that my son has really "gotten into" on his own.
ReplyDeleteIt is so very special Jenny. He is reading High Five. His Godparents got him the subscription a few years ago, and keep renewing for him. He really enjoys it. I think it is meant for kids 3 to 5, but at 6, Reece still loves it. Next year we might try the one for the 6 to 9 age group.
DeleteIt has some stories in it, a photo search and find, other little games, and always a little something to do. He really enjoys it.
Lovely words. Lovely photo of your gorgeous boy. xo
ReplyDeleteThank you Julie. Hope you are well my friend. xo
