    1. She is our favourite, but don't tell the others :) I was actually driving home, and saw the heron. Luckily I had my camera, so stopped to snap a few pics. It was amazing! The tomatoes keep rolling in, and I keep putting them by. They are going to taste so good during the dark, cold days of winter.

    1. Haha, thanks. I love seeing the tomatoes all lined up. This time of year, every summer, my window sill is filled with tomatoes for a few weeks. Always makes me smile.

  4. Oh Kim, once again your pictures make me wish that we lived SO much closer!

What a darling chicken! I think she'd be our favorite too! Grace was just reminding us at dinner last night how much she really would like to have chickens (as if we had forgotten)! :) xo

That girl of yours really needs some chickens. Are you thinking about it?

  7. That chicken!!!! I love it! And what a picture the second one is. The heron, the fog, the road. Stunning. What are you making with the tomatoes?
I took a morning picture yesterday but then the day got so very busy and it wasn't until I fell into my chair at 9 last night that I remembered I hadn't taken a noon or night!

    1. Thank you!

I was roasting the tomatoes, to be added to our freezer stash. During the winter I pull them out, add some other veggies, blend it up in the blender and we have delicious tomato sauce...so good!

No worries, you know where to find me next week :)

  10. What a great day! That heron is beautiful... we were lucky enough to have a huge male flying right above our car on a drive last week. No time for a snap shot, but so majestic! That chicken is so darling...

Question : To you roast your tomatoes with the skin? How do you keep them from sticking together in the freezer? Lay them flat on a sheet before transferring into the bag or directly into bag? I'm thinking the next batch will be roasted here!

I'll be back to play this week-end xox

    1. I love herons, and we have been blessed to see so many this summer. So happy I had my camera to capture this one.

I do roast them with skin on. Once roasted I let them cool, and then spoon them into mason jars. They hit the freezer then, I don't worry about them sticking together. When I want to make sauce, I pull out a couple of jars, add some garlic, onions, and a ton of other veggies, cook it down, then blend it in the blender. Hope that helps.

Great, looking forward to it. xo
