The Lull Between

How are you dear friends? Did you enjoy the last few days? Are you feeling the lull that happens this time of year, the lull that allows you to sink into your days and soak up the goodness around you? We sure are, and it has been lovely. Time has been spent with family and friends, there have been quiet moments at home, just the three of us, and of course, time in nature, wandering with no purpose at all except to just be.

These in between days are the ones I look forward to, they are slow and simple, and don't require much of me, or us. There are still things to do around this little homestead, chickens to feed, a dog to walk, and of course meals to cook, but the in between times, where there is nothing to do, those are being soaked up and truly enjoyed.

In the days ahead there are plans to visit with friends, there will be lots of time spent at home, and I am looking forward to a little solo hike in the woods, my chance to connect to myself, and my thoughts as I let go of 2014 and welcome 2015.

Wishing you all the best as you soak up the last of the holiday season, and get ready to welcome a new year.

    1. It was a lovely gift Mari, that I gave to myself this morning. So nice to walk among the trees and reflect about the year that was, and think a little about what I hope to manifest for 2015.

  6. goodness yes, I am very much enjoying this week full of slowness and quiet, exhales and very few expectations and plans. it has been pajamas for most of the days, only a quick change for solo runs in the woods. lots of chai and finishing off treats while slowly getting back to my more typical whole foods and predominantly gluten free food choices. but first, there remain a few cinnamon buns ;)

so glad to hear you're having a lovely week~
    cheers from NC, xo

    1. We are missing our snow too...it seems Mother Nature has a different idea of what winter should look like this year. We have our fingers crossed for a big dump soon, the little man wants to try out his new snowshoes :)

  8. I really like the color of Reece's hat. Is it the Taproot pattern?
There doesn't seem to be much snow with you, is that normal for this time of year?
Sounds like you are having a lovely relaxing time. We have had a lovely family christmas as my husbands clients cancelled last minute so he got to stay home with us!
Enjoy your solo hike (I had one with just my dog this afternoon)

    1. Thank ,and yes it is the Taproot pattern. I knit one for each of us this year for Winter Solstice. Fun knit.

Not much snow at all. We usually have quite a bit by now, but this year Mother Nature isn't cooperating. We have our fingers crossed we will get some soon, if not a little trip north will be planned so we can play in some snow.

I enjoyed my hike this morning, perfect day to soak in some me time. It was lovely. Happy to hear you got out too. And what a lovely last minute cancellation, so happy you could all spend time together.

  10. I'm so happy this time is such a peaceful one for you and your family. We have been enjoying much of the same. A few plans here an there, lots of enjoying nature and family. Lots of quiet moments just mom and dad while the kiddos calmly sleep away the afternoon, a little spent from all the excitement this time brings. I've actually started knitting a scarf for myself if you can believe that!

Wishing you a wonderful end to the year. Enjoy these moments as you are preparing for next year. <3

  11. Is it weird that I love winter landscapes as much as summery leafy ones? There is such stark beauty in winter.
We are enjoying the lull, recharging and resting. Planing and reflecting. ok, may be the planning is just me .. the reflecting is hubby as he looks at the bank account online!

    1. It was a lovely spot to hike, our first time there. We are definitely going back. Can't wait to see it in the summer, although it is bear territory, so we will have to be cautious :)

We are stretching it out as long as we can, hope you can too!
