Sunday Morning

I tiptoe softly out of the house, tea in hand, camera over my shoulder. The soft, still air is filled with morning bird song. Streaks of sun peek through the trees, catching the dew drops, making them sparkle. I walk slowly around the yard, breathing deeply, enjoying the early morning peace.

Natures beauty is not lost on me. I stop, I notice, I try to capture it with my lens. I watch a dew drop fall slowly from a leaf to the ground. Leaves that once adorned the birch tree, are now scattering themselves on the green  grass. Tomato plants, heavy with fruit, look wild and crazy, and flowers, in different states of bloom, add a dimension of beauty to the garden. Quiet mornings, like this one, offer connection to myself, and to the earth.

My tea is done, my soul alive. I walk slowly back into our home, the sound of laughter echos from the bedroom. They are up. Pumpkin pancakes are made, and a batch of pumpkin granola slowly baked in the oven. More tea is steeped, and then breakfast enjoyed, slowly.

I love Sunday mornings.

  2. Mmm, yes. These are the kinds of times I relish alone. They really recharge and energize me for the whole day. Beautiful photos. By the way, my favourite line: "the sound of laughter echos from the bedroom". Hehe...that is just like my family too!

    1. Thank you my friend.

They are delish. The recipe is right here, if you want to try them. Just replace the banana with some pumpkin, and add in 1/2 tsp of ginger. Enjoy! http://www.motheringwithmindfulness.com/2012/01/sunday-morning-pancakes.html

    1. It has been really pretty here in the mornings the last week or so with the dew. Yes, frost would be unlikely at this time of year. Though they are forecasting some early frost for our area this year...they are saying September. I am hoping they are wrong.

  7. How lovely... Did you ever watch the series "Cosmos" hosted my Neil Tyson DeGrasse? There was a whole chapter one episode on the living landscape inside a drop of dew... Fascinating. Your pictures sent me back there.

    Have a lovely day!

  9. That dew is so beautiful. I could use quiet morning moment. I'd have to get up at 4:30 to be up before my little ones.

Tell me about your pumpkin granola! I have lots of pumpkin from last season left that I really need to use up! :)

    1. I think so too KC. So lovely to watch it, and see how it forms differently on different leaves and flowers. So beautiful.

You have early risers. My alarm goes off at 5:30am, and Reece will sleep until 7:30am or so these days. It has only been in the last 4 months that I have reclaimed my morning time. And I am loving it.

Pumpkin granola...so good. Here's the recipe http://www.motheringwithmindfulness.com/2011/12/more-holiday-treats.html Enjoy!
