  1. Productive day! What beautiful tomatoes. I have to can some of mine today, we have them everywhere : Baskets, fridge, window sill. :-) I'm a bit jealous of your cucumbers and zucchinis. Seems ours are pretty much done. It's okay though. Looking forward to replacing the patch with fall hardy greens and radishes.

How are you liking that book? I've seen it a few times appear on recommended reading lists.

    Wishing you another lovely day!

    1. It was, and such a fun day too! Thank you, these ones and the ones on the window sill are bound for the oven, then freezer today. I wish I could send you some cucumbers, we have so many. Lots of pickles put by already, might do another batch, and the rest we will eat and share.

Love the book. More like a series of short stories, so I can pick it up, read a chapter, and put it down. And the chapters aren't too long, so I can squeeze in a read with a cup of tea here and there.

Same to you my friend, enjoy!

  2. Ahhhh...another book recommendation? :) This one sounds really interesting. Nature has always brought me so much peace.
You know l ended up getting "You're not the boss of me", am about a quarter of the way through it and it's really interesting.
Looks like the harvest is still going strong too!

Playing along this week, my three peeks can be found here http://goodnorthcoastlife.blogspot.com.au/2014/08/morning-noon-and-night-sunday-24-august.html

    1. It is a good one, highly recommend it. I lovedd You're Not the Boss of Me, and have actually been referring to it again as we move through this transformation. It has been a huge help.

The harvest is going great. Even with all the hail damage we had, everything is producing well. So very happy.

Loved those peeks into your day. Thanks for playing along. xo

    1. Loving it. It is really a series of short stories, more than a novel. Makes it easy to pick up and put down when I have a few moments here and there.

    1. Thanks. We are having a pretty good year in the garden. Always some things that do better than others, but we really can't complain.

    1. I love my mugs. I have a set of them, my mom bought them a few years ago for me. Yes, since deactivating my Facebook account, I suddenly have much more free time in the evenings, and I have been filling them up with lots of homemade goodness :)

    2. just wanted to say --- I deactivated my facebook account a few months ago and it has helped me so much in the "keeping up with other moms" and also just doing OTHER things. Also helped me find out who in my life really was actually IN my life. :)

    3. It has been an interesting challenge for me. At first I really missed the ability to message people easily, and of course I didn't have everyone's email address. But it has been a month, and I have gathered email addresses, and am finding I don't miss it at all. Those that want to stay in touch do, and I have been enjoying our email conversations. And the amount of time I have found is amazing. I am also enjoying the "quiet" it has brought to my life. There is a lot of chatter on there, and sometimes too much information. It is nice to be free from all of that. I also canceled my Twitter account, so it has been quite a change. What started as a one month challenge on July 27, will continue for a little while longer :)

  9. Oh I want to put some of that lip balm on my lips right now! :) What a great day you had!

    1. It was a good day. That isn't lip balm, it is healing salve. Made with yarrow, comfrey, and calendula from the garden, some wild crafted St. John's wort, olive oil, and beeswax. It is used to help with the healing of cuts, scrapes and burns. Works like a charm.

  10. Are you enjoying Wild Comfort? When I saw your photo I went to amazon and added it to my wish list.
Your salve looks amazing. I have some dandelion oil that I need to use, maybe that's what I'll do tomorrow :)

    1. I am really enjoying it Tracey. And I think you will too. She has a way with words, and makes me feel like I am right there, in nature with her.

Thank you, it feels so good to make this from my own herbs. Have fun with your dandelion oil, I whipped up dandelion salve a few weeks ago, love it!

  12. Just looking at your book and mug make me feel relaxed. I can't wait to be collecting lots of yummy goodness from the garden. What have you made Kim? Also you mentioned knitting on my blog. Can your knitting be shown on your blog Kim, or are they secretive Christmas pressies? I would love to see what you're making. xxoo

    1. It was a lovely morning Julie, a little chilly, but I am okay with that. Made with the food from the garden...a lot of it is eaten straight up, fresh, it tastes so good that way. But I have also been canning....dilly pickles, dilly green beans, gingery pickles beets, lots of jam, zucchini is shredded and frozen, tomatoes are roasted and frozen, and green beans have been boiled and frozen. The shelves and freezer are filling up.

Yes, knitting away on a sweater for me :) Hoping to have it finished soon, but it is slow going, I need to really focus when I knit it. So knitting only happens at night. I will share it soon. xo
