The weekend got started Friday afternoon playing, reading and laughing. Homemade pizza for dinner and then some reading and knitting.
Saturday morning we had a lovely visit from Reece's god parents, who we just don't see enough of. Hoping to fix that soon. Saturday afternoon found us in the woods with friends tracking. We were lucky enough to find both bunny poop and pee. Then porcupine poop. Then with a little look up, the porcupine in the tree sleeping. What a great find! This is the third porcupine we have found on our adventures and every time it is amazing! Once you find the porcupine the next thing you do is get busy on the ground looking for quills. The group was lucky enough to find six of them and I found two. So excited to add them to our nature collection.
After tracking, we shared our stories over a community potluck while the kids ran around. Good conversation, lots of laugther and wonderful people, I can't think of a better way to spend an evening.
A bit of a lazy Sunday morning that included pancakes and maple syrup. Then I was off to do a little shopping, a swimsuit was in order for our little trip coming up and some fun stuff to keep my little man busy on the drive.
Homemade soup for lunch and then a little outdoor time tapping the trees. This will be our second year tapping the trees. I am hoping to get a little maple syrup making in before we leave, and then the rest will be up to Justin while we are away.
The three of us then took a little drive to visit with Justin's family for dinner. Reece was super excited to see his cousin and I was happy to sit back, enjoy good conversation and a lovely dinner I didn't have to cook.
It was a full weekend on so many levels and exactly what I needed.

Fun! I once saw a porcupine. I love they way they walk!
ReplyDeleteIt was! This one was sleeping, but the last time we saw one he was trying to get out of the tree but didn't dare come down with 15 kiddos and 10 adults hanging around below looking at him. Watching him maneuver in the tree was pretty amazing!
