Sharing

Every day Reece and I share our love for nature with each other. We might just spend some time in the yard watering, weeding and playing. We might take Shelby for a walk. We might hike at Long Sault Conservation Area just up the road from our home. Or might hop in the car and drive a little longer to another hiking trail. Whatever we choose to do in nature one thing is the same...our connection deepens, with nature and with each other.

Before Reece was born I worked close to an area designated as a wetland. It is an amazing trail system on Lake Ontario that is home to an amazing amount of wildlife, specifically birds. I would often run, hike and wonder these parts when I had the chance. I no longer work near this place and have not visited since 2007, before Reece was born. So last week, I packed up the back pack and away we went. It is more beautiful than I remember and Reece had a great time.

Look at the blue sky

That is all wetland...gorgeous

Look what we found

He enjoyed picking them...

And eating them

The trail system is built in loops, and most of them loop down to the lake

Only ones on the beach...lucky us

Little waves on the lake

Perfect spot to rest and have a snack

Yum!

Rocks :)

Heading to the water...

To throw rocks

And a few more

Beautiful field of milkweed, tiger lilies and black eyed susan

Lovely little teepee

Little man and I

Beautiful views are everywhere on these trails

Having fun!

One last look back

There is so much about this connection we share that I love, most of all though it is time spent with Reece, with no worries about the time, no schedule, no rushing. Just the two of us, in nature, being who we are and enjoying every moment of it.

  5. I had no idea how big that lake really is! It looks like you are at the sea. I am also amazed how flat it Ontario is. I really was under the impression that there were mountains. I'm glad you had a wonderful time. I love the picture of the two of you together!

    1. That would be Lake Ontario! Mountains, here, nope. We have really big hills, but no mountains, although it would be nice.

    1. Not yet Melissa. Justin has skipped a few for him to see but I don't think he quite gets the magic of it yet. I think the first time he does it will be the time it all comes to light.
