I LOVE kale!!! And for that reason we grow a lot of it. Kale
gets juiced, added to smoothies, eaten raw in salads, lightly sautéed with
garlic and of course, dehydrated into kale chips.
There is really only way to eat kale as far as Reece is
concerned... kale chips. With the kale growing well in the garden we have been
munching on a lot of kale chips lately. I usually drizzle the kale with a little
olive oil, sprinkle with sea salt and nutritional yeast, massage it in and then
dehydrate. A few weeks ago I decided to blend up some of my cashew cream sauce. I massaged it
into the kale leaves and then threw them in the dehydrator. We are all in
agreement...Best. Kale. Chips. Ever.
Kale Chips with Cashew Cream Sauce
Large bunch
of kale, washed, stems removed, torn into bite size pieces
Batch of
cashew cream sauce
Extra sprinkle of nutritional yeast (optional)
Massage cashew cream sauce into kale leaves. Sprinkle with extra nutritional yeast, if desired, lightly toss. Place kale on
dehydrator tray. Dehydrate on high for one hour, then reduce to 115 degrees
until crispy, about 4 hours.
Enjoy!

I am happy to be guest posting today over at Happy Whimsical Hearts, take a moment and check out what Reece and I have been up to in the kitchen.
We need a dehydrator. Ours turn out well in the oven and on the grill but I think the dehydrator would be a great tool for so much. And I need to try your cashew cream sauce. Sounds divine!
ReplyDeleteYou so need one, we love ours. I do go through phases with it though, and find I use it a lot more in the summer.
DeleteI love kale chips but not many others in my family like it so it's not on the menu very often. We have two kale plants growing and I have my fingers crossed to eat some :)
ReplyDeleteReally, they don't like them, I guess that means more for you :)
DeleteHave some kale in ref. now. Want to make Kale Chips. If made in regular oven, what temp. and how long? TY
ReplyDeleteHi Mary, I have never made them in the oven, but my good friend Maggie has, here's her recipe http://www.sheletthemeatcake.com/2010/07/summer-holidays-with-gluten-free-dairy-free-kids-kale-chips-too/#.T_9gf_V9Fgw
DeleteEnjoy!
Yum! We had our first kale chips a couple of weeks ago and I was a quick convert. We just did salt and a bit of oil, but I think nutritional yeast would make me want to eat them nonstop, I love that stuff.
ReplyDeleteAren't they delish! You can eat them non stop too, so good for you. Enjoy.
DeleteWe LOVE kale chips here. We'll have to try to recipe.
ReplyDeleteLet me know what you think.
DeleteKim, you may have created my down fall here...I love kale chips, but have never had them with cashew cream sauce. Oh, I can't wait to try this, thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure, hope you like them Tracey.
DeleteI am so trying this! I love kale chips. Normally I just do olive oil and some onion powder. But cashews sound really good. So does the nutritional yeast! You should write a book Kim. :)
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy KC. You mean another book...I have it in the back of my mind, but there are a few other things occupying my time right now. Maybe soon.
Deleteyou are a woman after my heart. Kale, in all its glory, is my absolute favorite. Yum!
