Yarn Along

Looks like the same hat as last week, doesn’t it? It’s not. It‘s a new one, with the same yarn. It unfolded in the car, not sure how, there was a bump and then a whole bunch of stitches off my needles. Yikes! I tried to get them all back on, but didn’t succeed. I tried to undo a few rows to see if I could pick it all up again, nope.

So on Friday night, I sat ever so quietly, closed my eyes and frogged it...and then cast on to start again.

So, as you can see this weekend, with quite a bit of rain in our neck of the woods I was able to knit a little bit and pretty much get back to where I was last week. Which means by next week this hat will be done, I promise.

On the reading front, my issue of Taproot arrived in the mail on Friday, so I delved into it this weekend and so far I am really enjoying it.

What are you knitting and reading this week?

  1. I'm kind of sad that you had to start over. But sometimes you have to do it all over again to be happy. I'm always amazed at how fast it can unknit :!

    1. Me too, but really I am happier starting over than handing off something I am not proud of making. Oh I know, way to fast on the unknitting.

  4. Ouch Kim, I know that hurt as I did the same thing on Friday with my shawl. Oh well, knitting is a process right?
I have my issue of Taproot, but haven't opened it yet. I am 'saving it' for when I get my paper work finished. I detest paperwork and need some kind of motivation.
Have a great yarn along day.

  7. The unknitting happens much faster than the knitting, doesn't it? :) I'm not knitting anything right now, but hope to get started on a blanket or sweater for our september-due baby in the next couple of weeks. Also, I've been enjoying the latest Taproot as well and just devoured it yesterday afternoon. I really wish more publications like that existed.

  8. I have had to frog a lot lately.... for me it has been the fact that if I make more than a little mistake, I can never figure out how to fix it up. I feel like I need a class on undoing knitting mistakes!
It looks like you have made some pretty good progress, especially for your 2nd time around!

  11. Oh! So sorry you had to frog...it's so frustrating. Isn't this issue of Taproot divine? It really is just a feast for the eyes and mind.

  12. Hi Kim,

Thanks for stopping by on Elisa's Nature Walk! I am waiting for the new Taproot to arrive in Portland - I loved the first edition and cannot wait for the second! We've had almost two weeks of rain here (it felt like a monsoon at times!) but finally the sun in peeking out - hopefully my garden will perk up now that the sun has made it's appearance!

I've been working on knitting a quilt for my bed ... and I'm still working on it 6 months later. I think I need to get it finished!

    Warmly,
    Kelly

  13. I have a almost completed sweater sitting in a bag that needs to be frogged, it is truly heartbreaking.
On the reading front, I have just started to read through some of the Teaching Form Drawing from our Christopherus homeschooling curriculum. I can not believe I am looking at grade 1 material right now, how the heck did this happen!

Happy knitting, I love the colour.
