Well another hat is done! Four Christmas presents ready to
go, and yes it does feel good. I am taking a break from Christmas knitting now
and casting on some baby knits. I have quite a few friends expecting this fall
and winter so some lovely knits will be most welcome during the long, cold,
dark days of winter. I think I am going to try my hand at the Milo. I have seen
it many times on Yarn Along and really love it. I have downloaded the pattern
and now have to convince myself that I can knit in the round. I have tried a
few times without much success. Wish me
luck!
On the reading front, I needed a little break from all the
heavy reading I had been doing – Coyote’s Guide to Connecting with Nature and
doula reading, while both enjoyable, I just needed a little break. So last week
when Reece and I went camping I brought along Up by Patricia Ellis Herr. It is
a very easy, enjoyable read which I finished up on the weekend. It is the true
story of a mother and her five year old daughter and their adventure climbing
the forty eight highest peaks in New Hampshire. It was a delightful read and
now I really want to visit New Hampshire.
What are you knitting and reading this week?

Love your hat and boy am I impressed that you have four presents ready!! Soon I will be making my to knit list.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I feel pretty good about it. Lots of knitting still ahead though.
DeleteI love your hat-it looks so soft! You will not disappointed in knitting up a milo--though they are addicting! YOU CAN DO IT!
ReplyDeleteThanks, it is a merino, so yes very soft. Addicting is good, I have at least four pregnant mamas to knit for :)
DeleteThat color is so beautiful! Well done Kim. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks KC!
DeleteLove how this turned- pretty color. You are so smart to start xmas knitting now.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I really love the colour and know my niece will too.
DeleteKim, you can knit in the round, promise! If you need help why don't you try youtube? Just keep hitting replay until you understand the concept. If you have any questions I would be glad to help in anyway I can. Youtube is how I taught myself to knit and learn different stitches.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your vote of confidence Tracey. You can bet I will be using Youtube :) In fact I am sure we will become very good friends over the next few days.
DeleteAnd thanks, I just may be in touch if I get stuck.
I'm so impressed by your already having presents made. And knitting in the round is less scary than it looks. I'm no knitting expert by any means and have very limited skills, but love knitting in the round.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sara, I am getting started tonight, so next week I will be able to report on my progress.
DeleteLovely hat! I always say I'm going to start on Christmas presents way in advance but then all the sudden I realize it's November and I didn't, hah!
ReplyDeleteI'm reading "Atlas Shrugged" it's pretty hefty though so I have a feeling I'll be reading it for a few more weeks!

Thanks Josie. I will be sitting pretty in November when you get started :)
DeleteI love the color and am very impressed with the early Christmas gifts!
ReplyDeleteThanks Gretchen.
DeleteWow, four Christmas presents done! I don't have any done yet - though I just cast on for kilt hose for my husband and if I get that done my Christmas I'll consider it enough for the whole year!
ReplyDeleteYup, it feels pretty good. Good luck on the kilt hose, I hope you will post about it when they are finished.
DeleteI'm also impressed with getting so many Christmas gifts finished! And I agree that youtube is wonderful for new techniques.
ReplyDeleteI love the Milo too. Good luck!
Thanks Kate, I will need it!
DeleteI have just stumbled across your blog and wow....what an inspiration! From the way you talk about your beautiful boy to the way you have made your house into a home (your garden is wonderful). I will definately be tuning in. I particularly like the way you speak about the importance of letting your son take the lead in his 'journey'. What a lucky boy he is xxx
ReplyDeleteWow, thanks so much for the very kind words. I am so happy to have you visit and so glad you enjoyed it. My little man is very special to me, he has taught me so much and brought so much love into my life. Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you here again soon.
DeleteYou're really making progress!
ReplyDeleteYou bet I am Amber and enjoying every minute of it.
DeleteWhat a cute hat!!
ReplyDeleteAnd doula reading? I'm a doula too! (new to it!) I've attended two births and about to attend my third in August.
So happy to "meet" another knitting doula!
Thanks.
DeleteYup, doula reading, I am in training with Birth Arts. I will be attending my first birth in October, so exciting!!!!
Sounds like you are well on your way. Nice to meet you too :)
P.S. I'm your newest subscriber!
ReplyDeleteAwe, thanks!
DeleteI love the Milo. Have never knitted one, but think it is adorable. Such a great photo!!
ReplyDeleteI have looked at it for a long time, excited to give it a try.
DeleteThanks!
Another lovely hat! That book sounds great and very inspiring!
ReplyDeleteThanks Melissa. And yes very inspiring.
