Lost in the Woods

I have this thing with nature...it calms me, it makes me breath deeper and slow down, it centers me and brings me peace. I know when I have missed time in nature, my whole body lets me know, my heart lets me know and my soul lets me know. I need nature, I need to feel my connection to this earth and I need to make a conscious effort daily to make it a part of my life.

One of the greatest moments of mothering for me is sharing this connection with Reece.  It might be a walk in our neighbours forest after dinner, a hike at the trails up the road, pulling weeds or raking leaves in the yard or a picnic by the lake on a summer afternoon. Whatever it is, I am happy to share this with Reece and am even happier that he enjoys it so much.

Look what I found...

Last week I put a quick email out to some mama friends to see if they wanted to get lost in the woods with Reece and I for a few hours. It was a late night email for the next day, so sadly, no one was able to join us, but in the end it didn't matter. Reece and I spent two glorious hours exploring a new trail and deepened our connection to this earth and to each other.

  2. What a lovely walk! I feel that calling everyday too. Though it's not always possible to get out here, we only have one car. But we do take walks around the neighborhood when we don't have the car.

    1. It was KC! Same boat here, that's way some days it is just some yard work to connect us to Mother Nature, or a hike in our neighbours forest, whatever we can squeeze in we can.

  3. Fun!! I am in a really hard phase with Finn where he wants to go explore... but then doesn't want to do the walk back. I have to find more places with loop hikes! Your day looks like it was fun!

    1. Did you see the carry me mama pic???? The same thing happens here. The hike was a loop, about 2.5km, I think. Reece wanted up about halfway. I LOVE my Boba, makes getting out and getting lost in the woods much more fun and a whole lot easier :)
