"A photo of my little man, once a week, every week, in 2015"
Reece, when you were born there were three dogs in our family. You don't have any memory of Porscha or Duke, but Shelby, you will remember her. She is a big part of our family, and you love her dearly. I captured this photo, of you and her, one morning this week, as you sat on the front porch, awaiting the arrival of your friend.

What a lovely moment...they both look so content together but also expectant for what is coming...I'm sure Reece will treasure this image when he older!
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend all of you xxxx
Thanks Em. If you only knew the excitement in our home each morning when he waits for his little friend, goodness, it is incredible.
DeleteWe had a great weekend, hope you guys did too!
I don't remember seeing a picture a Shelby yet. :-) Pretty dog, precious moment.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week-end my dear!
Oh, she's been on the blog here and there over the years. She is an amazing dog, and is very loved.
DeleteWe did, thanks, hope you did too!
What a perfect moment to savor!
ReplyDeleteIt was :)
DeleteThat is a great picture!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Anke!
DeleteSo sweet. We had a dog before we had children and he died about three years ago. We were all so sad. It must be especially poignant for children who have never known life without their pets around.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jennifer. It is tough, the death of an animal. When our first died, it hit me hard. I didn't grow up with a pet, and she was my first one. So very hard to say goodbye. I imagine it is, and I am sure we will find out one day. Truth be told, I know it will be quite hard for Reece.
Deleteso sweet to have a childhood friend...a loyal puppy. I have very fond memories of my dog growing up - I'm pretty sure that having an animal to love helped shape me in who I am today and my love for all creatures. Such a sweet picture kim
ReplyDeleteThank you Alyssa. They have a very special relationship, the two of them, and I do think it helps to create a sense of love for all of the creatures of the earth.
DeleteYou should frame this one! Love how dogs are so important to a family.
ReplyDeleteI will be Karen, Reece has asked for it to be printed and framed so he can have it in his room :)
DeleteThis is truly special. The sweet simplicity of a boy and his dog - just precious.
ReplyDeleteThank you Susan. I think that is what made me grab my camera, the sweetness, and the love I could feel just watching them. It was indeed very precious for this mama.
Deletelove it...I love how the picture captures them both looking in the same direction. Hope you had a good weekend Kim
ReplyDeleteThanks Erica. Believe it or not, Shelby waits in anticipation for Reece's friend's arrival each morning too. It is cute to see :)
DeleteSo sweet. <3
ReplyDeleteThank you. xo
Deletelovely lovely, they seem to bring peace to eachother!
ReplyDeleteOh, they certainly do :)
DeleteThere's just something about the relationship between a child and their dog that is truly wonderful. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is a special kind of relationship, no question about it.
DeleteDogs and kids are pretty darn cute together...
ReplyDeleteThey are :)
DeleteKids and animals (especially beloved pets) together just make me so very happy! I grew up with lots of animals and it was something I knew I wanted for my girls too. I'm so glad that they've always had pets in their lives as I truly do think it helps them to develop compassion.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think it goes without saying that I am very keen on Shelby's name! ;) How old is she? Have you had her since she was a pup? xo
I think so too Shel, and it gives them a companion to chat to, and share "secrets" with :)
DeleteShelby will be 13 in July, and yes, got her when she was 6 weeks old. She is a wonderful dog, and very loved.
They look like they have a very special relationship. And obviously that's also the case with Reece and his friend.
ReplyDeleteYes, on both accounts Sally :)
Deleteso darling.
