Quiet

Quiet has been surrounding us these last few days. The Christmas music has been turned off, actually all music has been turned off and we are enjoying the quiet of our home. The decorations are put away for another year, and there is stillness and peace in our lives right now. It feels good and oh so right at this time of the year.

We have enjoyed time outside, hiking, playing in the snow and sitting around the fire. Inside we have been playing, reading, writing, knitting, crafting and doing a little bit of organizing. There has been time for reflection on the year that was and discussions about the year to come and where we are headed.

These are the in between days, the days after the craziness of Christmas and the days before the excitement of a New Year. We are enjoying the lull, soaking up the slowness and sinking into it for a few more days.

  2. Lovely! I am impressed you have already put away all your Christmas decorations. I will leave mine up until after New Year's and then I know I will be itching to put them away ASAP. I am always so excited to unpack them and decorate the house, but as soon as the 26th hits I am just as eager to get my house 'back'. Except twinkle lights....I love them year-round :)

    1. Thanks Carrie. And yes all put away, that happens on Boxing Day, every year. I, like you, love getting it all out, but once Christmas is done I want it gone. Our home always feels so fresh and spacious after we have taken them all done, perfect way to start the New Year.

  3. Wonderful. I would love to hear the silence of the view. I bet it sounds much the same as being in the open desert. Wishing you a wonderful new year!
