Finding Peace

Where do you go to find peace?
To find the simplicity and the slowness during the hustle and bustle of this season.
To find the quiet that allows you to hear your inner voice.
To find the place to exhale, let go and then inhale, deep.

I have a place I go,
a place that allows me to release,
to listen and find answers,
to exhale and inhale
and to find me, the real me.

It is a special place
where trees grow tall,
animals trust,
the air is fresh
and my soul feels at home.
I find myself pulled to this place often,
with Reece in tow,
birdseed in hand,
we go.
Together.

And together we connect,
to the animals,
to the trees,
to the earth,
to each other.

And each time,
as we head back to the car,
back to "reality"
there is a sense of calm,
trust, and contentment.
I am happy.
He is happy.
And I feel peace.

Where do you go to find peace?

  1. Your posts about the walks you take in the woods are always so lovely and I am amazed that the chickadees land in your hand. But since we have moved farther north I have found that my birds are extremely trusting and friendly. Our peaceful place is also walking through the woods. Enjoy!

    1. Thanks Kathleen. We love the woods and find time each and every day to visit, not always this place, but someplace :)

  4. I feel truly blessed to have a forest as our backyard, as my peace is definitely in the quiet solitude of nature. Well sort of quiet.. we have a loud creek and there are often birds or squirrels chirping.
How amazing to have a bird land in your hand! We had a quail sit outside our bedroom window just the other day, how fluffed up and chubby he looked trying to keep warm from the cold (-20C/-4F).

    1. We are surrounded by forest too and we love it! Some of it isn't easy to walk in, but the bit across the road owned my our neighbours has trails cut through it, that is where we head on our daily nature walks. Such a lovely treasure to have the woods right outside the door :)

I have heard it has been chilly in your neck of the woods, hope you are staying warm.

  5. I agree with Cory! Love when you do a bird post :) I find peace when I am sitting with my knitting, I zone out and become calm. Also walking anywhere when nature is around me.

    1. Thanks Karen. I keep thinking no one wants to see these darn birds again, but I can't help it, it is just so darn awesome, every single time :)

Knitting is a peaceful time for me too, until I drop a stitch or make mistake on a pattern, then not so much.

    1. They are pretty sweet :) And yes we are very lucky and know it. This precious spot is not around our home, but a little drive away. Always worth the drive though :)

  8. Beautiful. Nature does it for me every time. There is a place a short drive away and another a shorter walk where you can access the Missouri River and while I don't go enough, when I am able it is nice to sit near the shore with a journal.

    1. Thanks Sara. That sounds like a lovely spot. Sitting by water in nature, it doesn't get much better than that.
