Water Fun

Last week Reece and I made little rafts, using the ideas from this book. We had a great time making them and Reece couldn't wait to try them out. I made a promise to take him to the creek the next day so we could see how well they worked.

Reece and I loaded up the two rafts we made, plus two other boats he has for his baths and headed over to my parents place. We parked the car, put on our rubber boots and walked over to the creek. Just as we were leaving my parents came home and decided to join us - fun!

It had rained the day before so I was a little worried the water would be flowing too fast and we wouldn't be able to put them in the water. I knew I would have a sad little man if that was the case. Luckily we were able to find the perfect spot, the water was flowing, but not too fast.  My dad joined Reece at one end and I stood at the other end with the camera catching the boats before they got taken away in the current.

We had a blast. The little rafts we made floated!!! Yes, they did!! Reece was thrilled. It was a great little trip to the creek and one Reece is still talking about. You can bet we will be doing this again soon.

  1. I bet your son was thrilled to see something he created float! I love that you live near your family, mine are a distance and did not have that kind of grandparenting experience. I grew up with it and treasure my memories.

    1. He was thrilled. The one thing that keeps us here is our family. There are places we would love to live, but having family close by is really important to both of us.

  2. And these are the kinds of lessons kids can learn from everyday life. Just having fun, but learning more than they realize along the way. I love that.
