I have been working away on the Milo for Reece. I am using an alpaca/merino combination and it is lovely to knit with. I love that I can knit it right in front of him and size it up against him and he has no idea it is for him. I think this will be the last year for this, so I will enjoy the ease of it, next year I will be knitting in hiding.
I took some time this weekend to knit up another little bowl. I absolutely love knitting these. They are an easy knit and take very little time. I sat down at 9pm on Saturday night, cast it on, knit away and by 10:30pm was sewing in the ends. It is really nice to have a quick little project to go to when you need a little bit of instant gratification. It will get felted this week and I will share it next week.
Still focusing on the doula reading at the moment, trying to get as much read as I can. I have just slightly cracked open John Holt's How Children Learn and am enjoying the little bit I have read.
What are you knitting and reading this week?

Kim, even thru a computer screen I can see how soft that yarn is and I bet it will be so enjoyable to wear.
ReplyDeleteAfter your post last week I pulled my Rhythme of Home book so I can cast on a few bowls. Now to decided what yarn to use.
It really is as soft as it looks Tracey, I really love it. And yay on the bowls, they are so cute and perfect for little treasures.
DeleteLove the halo of the yarn! Looks soft :) I don't know, I knit a pair of socks for my husband in front of him and he never knew, so you might be able to do it next year :)
ReplyDeleteThat is good to hear, he is a pretty curious little boy though, always asking what I am knitting, sewing, baking, and so on...
DeleteYour pictures inspire me. I would love to knit a bowl, though it is probably wishful thinking, at least for this week. As for reading, I just discovered this blog, written by Jack Petrash, a master Waldorf teacher. I love his latest post about letting children go. http://www.wwsqanda.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteAwe, thanks. Going to check out that link right now, thanks!
DeleteOoooh lucky Reece! And that book recommendation looks very good too - thanks very much! I will check it out.
ReplyDeleteI hope he thinks so :) And really anything by John Holt is good.
DeleteThat yarn looks so soft and cozy!
ReplyDeleteIt is!
Deletefunny how you can knit for your kids right in front of them. maybe because i have so many children, but mine never seem to notice when i am knitting for them. LOL maybe it is because i am always knitting something.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear, I am keeping my fingers crossed it will be the same here :)
DeleteI think I want a blanket out of that yarn...it looks so wonderfully soft and warm! Good stuff!
ReplyDeleteOhh, that would be lovely, will you knit it for me :)
DeleteThe yarn looks Beautiful!!!
ReplyDelete~~Renee
It is!!!
DeleteThat's beautiful! I'd love to snuggle in it. I read How Children Learn when I was pregnant with Audrey. Then I had Aaron read it. My mom suggested him to me. I so love his writing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Amber. I love John Holt, I often think about how disappointed he would be in the way our education system has gone. He thought things were challenging then, can't even imagine what he would think now.
Deletethat yarn looks so cozy! can't wait to see reece wearing it after the holidays.
ReplyDeleteIt is. And yes, I will share a picture after the holidays for sure.
DeleteI love Alpaca!! This looks soo soft and snuggly!
ReplyDeleteMe too! We have an alpaca farm just down the road. I actually have some alpaca wool I purchased from them and after the sale they took Reece and I out to the pasture to meet the alpacas it came from...so very cool.
DeleteI am loving that yarn. It must be so soft. I just finished reading a John Holt book. Great read. I will certainly seek your counsel on finding the right doula when our next little one comes along.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathleen. John Holt is pretty amazing, love his writings. Are you trying to tell me something :)
