My Notebook

I am a list maker. I am a note maker. I think of things at the strangest times. And for all of these reasons I have a notebook with me at all times.

The one with the flower binding is my current notebook.
The other just created for my gardening notes for the coming season.

This little handmade notebook is within reach most of the time, so when something pops into my head I can write it down. If I hear or read an inspiring quote, I write it down. If I dream up a kid friendly craft project or something interesting for me to craft, I write it down. When something warms me to my soul, I write it down.
I have websites listed I want to look at. I have things I want to do and recipes I want to create listed in my notebook. I have a list of things I want to do with Reece, things I want to experience with him and see through his eyes. They all get listed in the notebook and as time permits I can slowly make my way through it.
Every time I open it I feel a sense of joy for these handwritten notes, written in the middle of my day and sometimes even in the middle of the night. They are spontaneous thoughts, for the most part, things that pop into my head and from there I take the time to nurture them.
My notebook is more than just paper, it is part of me, a part I capture and make note of so I don’t lose it in the craziness of life. It forces me to slow down, to articulate my thoughts and to take the time to put pen to paper.

    1. Yikes, 6 at one time, I have to admit, since I wrote this post on the weekend, I have made a few notebooks...so there are now two on the go :)

And what do you mean "a real writer now", you are a real writer, even without your notebooks. Your writing is amazing and touches my soul every time I read it.

  2. I had a notebook for so long until I added baby number two. I still try to keep up with it sometimes. I find keeping my thoughts there allow me to have a freer mind. Those are lovely notebooks by the way!

    1. Yes, KC, a freer mind is so true. Once it is all written down, I am free to focus on whatever is going on at that time. I hear you with two little ones, I can only imagine...

And thanks, glad you like them.

  3. Notebooks are so wonderful. I wished that I had learned to use them much much earlier. Love the twig added to that one notebook. I need to start (and maintain - hard part) of notebooking for certain items as well. I tend to write things down like recipes or websites or creative inspiration on a slip of paper and then...I can't find it!

    1. Oh, yes been there, searching everywhere for the note I left myself and frustrated when I can't find it. My notebook keeps all of that in line, and makes finding something so much easier. Just get started, it gets easier each day :)

    1. Thanks Julie! The one with the ribbon binding is just stapled. The ribbon is covering the staples and was attached with hot glue. The one with the tree branch, was done a little differently. I punched two holes, one at the top and one at the bottom, threaded an elastic band through the top hole and around the branch. It then runs along the back and comes through the bottom hole and attaches to the branch at the bottom. Does that make sense?

I really like the tree branch one and can see giving it as a gift to some of the people in my life who like to journal.

    2. Thanks for this Kim. We bought a glue gun a couple of days ago and my son is looking for things to glue. We might just have to make a notebook. xxoo

    1. Thanks Desiree. So glad Gretchen likes hers, it was a last minute idea as I was making a few for Reece to take with us to Justin's surprise party on Saturday evening and decided to make one for Gretchen too.
