32/52

"A photo of my little man, once a week, every week, in 2015"

Reece, being creative is part of our family culture, and you seem to understand this without being told. You spend time in the workshop with your dad, cutting wood, sanding it, and turning it into whatever you envision. You soak up time at your craft table, supplies everywhere, drawing. You grab yarn from the basket of scraps and start finger knitting. There are times I wonder just what has motivated you to sit down and create. On this day it was the Eiffel Tower, it is there on your desk. You asked me to get it down from a shelf because you wanted to draw it. You spent almost an hour at your craft table creating your masterpiece. I stopped what I was doing many times to watch, and so did your dad. We shared a knowing smile a few times as you worked, happy to see you creating, totally in the moment, and focused. You see, we both understand this focus, because we too get wrapped up in our creative projects, we sink into them and lose all track of time some days. To see you doing the same, well, it made us both so very happy.

    1. Thanks Jen, sometimes I feel like black and white can tell a story so much better than colour, and in this case I think it does :)

He was so focused on his drawing, and both Justin and I were kinda captivated watching him. It truly was a special moment for all of us.

    2. I agree on the black and white telling the story better. And it is perfect for that shot.

    1. Thanks KC! Making that craft table was the best decision we ever made. He loves it, and uses it daily.

Yes, I often sit and look at those photos of him when he was younger...where has the time gone?

  6. Oh that's just so lovely, what a beautiful trait to have absorbed from both of you, and wonderful to have creativity front and centre in all your lives.

    1. Thanks Carie. He couldn't help but absorb it with a dad who is an artist, and a mom who loves to create. It was bound to happen :)

  7. Reece and Emerson are two peas in a pod. Emerson spends hours each day creating or planning ideas to create. I wonder how it would be if all children had the opportunities to create freely like ours do? An even more amazing world I believe.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend my dear friend.

    1. Oh yes, I do agree Tracey. What a world it would be. I think the time Reece spends thinking about his creations is just as important as the time creating. Some of his ideas are just amazing, and when he brings them to life it makes him so very happy.

Thanks Tracey, hope you had a lovely weekend.
