"A photo of my little man, once a week, every week, in 2015"
Reece, being creative is part of our family culture, and you seem to understand this without being told. You spend time in the workshop with your dad, cutting wood, sanding it, and turning it into whatever you envision. You soak up time at your craft table, supplies everywhere, drawing. You grab yarn from the basket of scraps and start finger knitting. There are times I wonder just what has motivated you to sit down and create. On this day it was the Eiffel Tower, it is there on your desk. You asked me to get it down from a shelf because you wanted to draw it. You spent almost an hour at your craft table creating your masterpiece. I stopped what I was doing many times to watch, and so did your dad. We shared a knowing smile a few times as you worked, happy to see you creating, totally in the moment, and focused. You see, we both understand this focus, because we too get wrapped up in our creative projects, we sink into them and lose all track of time some days. To see you doing the same, well, it made us both so very happy.
for the 52 Project
Thanks Anke :)Delete
he looks right at home, immersed in creativity. ;)ReplyDelete
He loves having his own little space to create, and he does feel right at home in his craft space :)Delete
What a gift to him he can take into his life. To make time to sit and make.ReplyDelete
Thank you. It is a gift I have been happy to pass on :)Delete
I love the black & white. He looks so intense, you can just feel his mind going!ReplyDelete
Thanks Jen, sometimes I feel like black and white can tell a story so much better than colour, and in this case I think it does :)Delete
He was so focused on his drawing, and both Justin and I were kinda captivated watching him. It truly was a special moment for all of us.
I agree on the black and white telling the story better. And it is perfect for that shot.Delete
What an amazing capture Kim, such life in the still of the moment. You are raising quite a little person there. :-)ReplyDelete
Thanks Yanic, so very kind of you to say. He is an amazing little man, and he is showing me how to be the mom he needs.Delete
What a great desk you guys made! I really like the contrast between the older Reece and the baby pictures on the wall.ReplyDelete
Thanks KC! Making that craft table was the best decision we ever made. He loves it, and uses it daily.Delete
Yes, I often sit and look at those photos of him when he was younger...where has the time gone?
Oh that's just so lovely, what a beautiful trait to have absorbed from both of you, and wonderful to have creativity front and centre in all your lives.ReplyDelete
Thanks Carie. He couldn't help but absorb it with a dad who is an artist, and a mom who loves to create. It was bound to happen :)Delete
Reece and Emerson are two peas in a pod. Emerson spends hours each day creating or planning ideas to create. I wonder how it would be if all children had the opportunities to create freely like ours do? An even more amazing world I believe.ReplyDelete
Enjoy the rest of the weekend my dear friend.
Oh yes, I do agree Tracey. What a world it would be. I think the time Reece spends thinking about his creations is just as important as the time creating. Some of his ideas are just amazing, and when he brings them to life it makes him so very happy.Delete
Thanks Tracey, hope you had a lovely weekend.
These will be such sweet words for him to read someday, Kim. :) Also, I really love that craft space you have created for him!ReplyDelete
I hope he enjoys looking back and reading them Kristen.Delete
Thanks, it was the best decision we ever made to create that space for him. He uses it all the time.
Gorgeous photo; he looks like he's really engrossed in his project!ReplyDelete
Thank you. He was very in the moment, and focused on his creation.Delete
This one is really lovely, very much one of my favourites XReplyDelete
Thank you Sally. It captures a side of Reece I don't usually share on the blog, and it is nice to have it in this space. I might have to share a little more of this side of him :)Delete
What an amazing little man!!! You and your husband can pat and hug yourself, you seem to have done quite a great job with your boy!! High five from me!ReplyDelete
Aw, thanks, so sweet of you to say.Delete
I love this capture. The light, shadows, not to mention the subject ;) I love how focused Reece can be.This will serve him well as he gets older.ReplyDelete
Thank you :) He can truly sink into a moment or a project, fully, and time just slips away. It is wonderful to witness.Delete
