Our Weekend

Wow, what a weekend. We got the weekend started on Friday with a visit from a friend and her two little ones. We enjoyed some play time and a lovely lunch before they headed home for nap time. We spent the rest of the day in the yard, playing, gardening and enjoying the sun, when it decided to peek out from the clouds.

Reece and I went to the market on Saturday morning, running into many friends. I love that about our market, so many familiar faces as we walk around, with a little time here and there to catch up. We ran a few errands before heading home where we played a little and then headed to the woods for a little hike to see the trilliums. It was breath taking.

I hit the road early Sunday morning for a run, and then it was a slow kinda morning with pancakes, a little time in the garden and putting the finishing touches on the preparations for an afternoon visit from some friends. We spent the afternoon in the yard soaking up the sunshine with our friends. The kids played, we chatted. There was a big game of Bird Bingo, in which Reece and his little friend won, not one game, but two. It was pretty exciting. We shared a meal on the back deck before saying good bye and settling in for the night.

Usually that would be the end of the weekend, but it is a long weekend here, which means today, we are still weekending. There will be a walk in the woods, a little foraging, and a visit with my parents this morning, and this afternoon we will be in the yard doing the things we love to do...playing, gardening, and soaking up the goodness of Mother Nature.

How was your weekend?

  1. What a lovely week-end you had! Those trillium fields... They truly are magical!

Ours was (and still will be) busy! We have about half a ton of perennial plants to include all around our yard and flower bed. Saturday and Sunday, we were busy driving from friends' houses to friends' houses, relieving them of unwanted plants to populated our grounds. Got plants, ground cover and flowers, herbs and trees (we were giving Japanese maples, crab apple trees, Japanese flowering quince and a beautiful 3-4 year old sugar maple.)... Today, we plant! Ouf... pictures to come. :-)

Wishing you a wonderful Victoria Day! xo

    1. Magical is the right word :)

How wonderful of your friends to share their plants and trees. Sugar maple....maple syrup will be in your future :) Enjoy getting your hands dirty with all that planting.

    2. Thanks... it will be a while til we get maple syrup. LOL! But, we do have a huge Norway Maple in the yard that we will tap next year. Makes a less sweet syrup, but it still is pretty tasty. We use to tap the Norways in my parents yard when I was little. :-)

  2. Oh I forgot it is Victoria weekend! We used to visit his family on that weekend or memorial weekend, and either one was a challenge because of the holidays and the traffic and the border crossing. Have fun with your long weekend :)

    1. It is! And we are thoroughly enjoying the long weekend. The traffic is usually pretty crazy, which makes hanging out around and near home so much nicer :)

  8. Sounds like a fabulous weekend! We had a jam packed weekend too, and this coming weekend is our long weekend (beginning with my birthday on Saturday and ending with the Memorial Day parade on Monday). Somehow I think we're going to need the beginning of next week to recover from the fun of the long weekend! xo
