Celebrating May Day

Over the last three years we have been slowly adding festivals to our year, choosing the ones that speak to us and the journey we are on. Yesterday we added May Day to our festival calender and it was celebrated with much love and joy. We kept it simple, creating May Day baskets with some water colour paintings, ribbon, and tulips and then hand delivering them to unsuspecting friends and family. A simple note saying Happy May Day was left inside and they were hung on the front door.

Our hope is that they brought a little smile to those who received them and brigthened their day just a little bit.

Happy May Day!

  2. Such a sweet and simple tradition but one that really is so very fun! This is our second year celebrating May Day by leaving baskets and I dare say it may be our most favorite tradition of all! Love the way your baskets came out! We may have to try the cone idea for the neighbors next year too! Happy May Day, dear friend! xo

      You too, enjoy!

  6. I've been leaving little baskets for the neighbor children since we moved in five years ago. This year I was surprised with my very own basket left by them :) it's a small gesture, and at the same time one full of heart. I'm sure your family will love this holiday. Be well.

  12. What a great idea! We too, are adding more dates to our calendar. Was planning on hammering a pole into our back yard with ribbons for yesterday, alas the cold I have said, 'good luck', so...next year. :)

    1. Thanks! I am thinking it might be fun to do that once Reece gets a little older. A few friends, a pole, some ribbon and lots of fun...something to look forward to :) Hope you feel better soon.
