Shifting Into a New Rhythm

Seasons, I love all of them...spring, summer, fall and winter. Each one has a little something that sucks me in and just makes me fall in love over and over again. I also have a special place in my heart for the shift in seasons. As the seasons move from one to next there is a certain excitement deep inside, and a little spring in my step. There is promise of what is to come and the dreams we hope to bring to fruition.

As we begin the shift from winter to spring in our neck of the woods there are little tweaks here and there to our daily rhythm as a family. This week the biggest shift has occurred in our evening rhythm with the reintroduction of our after dinner family walk. This has been a tradition spanning 17 years for Justin and I, and now we of course include Reece. With the return of evening light we are now able to venture out on our country roads after dinner for some fresh air, good chats, laughter and exploration.

There really are no words to describe how wonderful these walks are for all of us. As we walk, soaking up the last light of the day, we fill our hearts and souls. We feel grateful for the beauty around us, for the life we lead and for the moments, like this nightly ritual, that we get to share.

I am so happy to be moving slowly into spring. It feels so wonderful after the very harsh winter we have been gifted. I am ready to move on, ready to put my winter boots, woolens, hats and mitts away. Ready to hear the call of the robin, to see the buds on the trees start to blossom and to watch the world come alive.

***I am guest posting over at Mud Puddles to Meteors today, stop by and check out something pretty cool!

  2. for the past three days I have not worn boots, two pairs of socks-one pair woolen, and no mitts. I've enjoyed it immensely. I've worn a spring jacket in place of a parka and our walks are so fresh airy!! Here's to spring, we welcome you :)

  5. We have also indulged in a few evening walks the last few days, taking in the cool air before the kiddos' bedtime. It has been a bit of readjusting and a few later-than-planned bedtimes for little miss, but we have enjoyed them. Last night, my daughter went to bed and there was still a bit of light shinning through her window. It felt strange and comforting all at once. Spring truly is on its way!

  13. Each season has it's own wonderment but after all the recent rain fall in the UK I am looking forward to embracing Spring in all it's glorious beauty. I love the idea of family walks after dinner and a chance to spend some uninterrupted quality time together. Thanks for linking up and sharing with Country Kids.

  14. It is wonderful to see a mother who is bringing mindfulness to the heart of her sons life and I share your love of the changing seasons, even though they are a little less defined in this part of the world, but here in the UK we are beginning to see signs that we are shifting from Winter to Spring and after the flooding across the country, over the last couple of months, we have just had our first bright and beautiful weekend.

    1. Thank you for your kind words, they just made me smile. I have a friend in the UK I email every night and I know how much rain you have had this winter, so very happy the sun finally came out and shared some light and warmth with you.
