Cottage Fun

The water was still. The sun was warm. The call of the loons was hauntingly beautiful. The sounds of bull frogs serenading me to sleep was strangely peaceful. The gentle grace of the great blue heron on the water in the early morning was stunning to watch. My little man enjoying his time in the water made my heart smile and watching him sit among the wild strawberries and raspberries picking and eating, well that was just the icing on what was a wonderful three days.

Reece and I journeyed north on Monday to spend three days with a good friend and her little lady at her family cottage. It was absolutely wonderful and so very full in many ways.

We spent a lot of time in the water, Reece was having so much fun and I just went a long for the ride. I even had the chance to take him for his first kayak and while he was a little scared, he did enjoy it. There was a market on Tuesday so we went for a little stroll around the market and then stopped off at a lovely nature trail. This trail meanders through the woods and showcases a unique outdoor collection of sculptures by Canadian and international artists. To find such beauty hidden among the trees was wonderful and inspiring. We were also lucky enough to find quite a few patches of both wild strawberries and raspberries as we walked. We would stop, pick and eat whenever we found them, so good.

Time away with my little man with a good friend and her family, enjoying the peace which comes from time by the water, watching as Reece develops a deeper connection to nature and finding time to feed my soul...so much goodness from a few days at the cottage.

  2. I really like those little rock people curled up on the rock. On the trail we have here we found the Word "ART" carved out of moss. Very neat. I sure would like to hear those bull frogs croaking. Wonderfully write post Kim!
