An Autumn Walk

We woke to a chill in the air, and frost on the ground. The woods called, and we heeded the call. As we stepped on the trail the leaves crunched beneath our feet, and the wind whispered gently through the trees. As leaves slowly floated to the ground, little hands tried to catch them, laughing the whole time. As we walked we filled our hands with colourful leaves, and filled our souls with the power and strength of nature. We walked hand in hand, we talked, we laughed, we stopped and listened. The birds sang for us, the squirrels chattered, and all around us nature shared so much. There is nothing quite as glorious as the woods in autumn, and yesterday, my little man and I soaked it up, together.

  2. Goodness, that looks like time very well spent! While we were living in Germany we had woods nearby and went for walks almost daily. It was so serene and peaceful and I loved seeing how everything changed with the seasons. Now we would have to drive somewhere in order to take a walk in the woods and with work, school, daily life there just never seems to be time for it...

    1. It was time very well spent. It is such a wonderful experience to watch the changing seasons, to see the subtle changes that start slowly, and than gain speed, resulting in the seasonal shift. I feel blessed to be able to find the time and space for Reece and I to enjoy time on the trails.

  3. It was 46 f when I woke this morning and while I know to you that isn't very cold to my southern thin blood it's quilt time! Love the photos Kim. I dreamed of you and Reece last night I was visiting and you two were teaching me how to make natural medicines, it was a good dream.
    Happy Monday my dear.

    1. Hehe, it was about 20 degrees colder here this morning Tracey :) But I know that is cold for you, and I am so happy to hear you are getting some cooler weather. Enjoy it my friend.

Oh goodness, what a wonderful dream. I think we have to make it a reality my friend :)

  4. These are my favorite memories as well, my walks and time outside with my girls. Looks like a beautiful fall that you are having! Our trees are quite bare now already. It seems so sad that it went so fast, but I always look forward to the first part of winter leading up to Christmas. After that it seems to linger on too long until spring.

    1. It is such a time of connection for Reece and I, to each other, to the season, to the earth...it just feels so right for both of us. We are having a wonderful fall season. Still lots of colour to come, and to enjoy.

I am like you, I love this first bit of winter, leading up to the holidays, even into January is good, but the long stretch through February is always a little daunting.

Hope you are well my friend. xo

  13. You really cannot go wrong with a walk in the woods ever but especially so in the autumn! It truly is such a magical place! Since the girls had Nature School yesterday (and what a chilly day it was) we took our nature walk today! It was such a lovely day in the woods and I am so very glad that we went! xo

  17. What amazing leaves. As much as Summer is my favourite time generally, I think the woods might be best in Autumn, although it's so hard to pick a best time in the woods! Spring with buds appearing on the trees and fresh green growth and birds full of the joy of it all, and the lovely light and shade in Summer and magical frostiness in Winter, the woods are just great all year round!

    1. Haha, I have to agree with you my friend. Every season has its own special magic about it, and for me, any season is a good season to be in the woods.
