An Autumn Walk
We woke to a chill in the air, and frost on the ground. The woods called, and we heeded the call. As we stepped on the trail the leaves crunched beneath our feet, and the wind whispered gently through the trees. As leaves slowly floated to the ground, little hands tried to catch them, laughing the whole time. As we walked we filled our hands with colourful leaves, and filled our souls with the power and strength of nature. We walked hand in hand, we talked, we laughed, we stopped and listened. The birds sang for us, the squirrels chattered, and all around us nature shared so much. There is nothing quite as glorious as the woods in autumn, and yesterday, my little man and I soaked it up, together.

Beautiful, just beautiful. Love the colours.....I can hear the crunch of leaves in your photos :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! It was a truly amazing walk :)
DeleteBliss! Pure bliss:)
ReplyDeleteIt was!
DeleteGoodness, that looks like time very well spent! While we were living in Germany we had woods nearby and went for walks almost daily. It was so serene and peaceful and I loved seeing how everything changed with the seasons. Now we would have to drive somewhere in order to take a walk in the woods and with work, school, daily life there just never seems to be time for it...
ReplyDeleteIt was time very well spent. It is such a wonderful experience to watch the changing seasons, to see the subtle changes that start slowly, and than gain speed, resulting in the seasonal shift. I feel blessed to be able to find the time and space for Reece and I to enjoy time on the trails.
DeleteIt was 46 f when I woke this morning and while I know to you that isn't very cold to my southern thin blood it's quilt time! Love the photos Kim. I dreamed of you and Reece last night I was visiting and you two were teaching me how to make natural medicines, it was a good dream.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday my dear.
Hehe, it was about 20 degrees colder here this morning Tracey :) But I know that is cold for you, and I am so happy to hear you are getting some cooler weather. Enjoy it my friend.
DeleteOh goodness, what a wonderful dream. I think we have to make it a reality my friend :)
Hope you are having a lovely Monday. xo
These are my favorite memories as well, my walks and time outside with my girls. Looks like a beautiful fall that you are having! Our trees are quite bare now already. It seems so sad that it went so fast, but I always look forward to the first part of winter leading up to Christmas. After that it seems to linger on too long until spring.
ReplyDeleteIt is such a time of connection for Reece and I, to each other, to the season, to the earth...it just feels so right for both of us. We are having a wonderful fall season. Still lots of colour to come, and to enjoy.
DeleteI am like you, I love this first bit of winter, leading up to the holidays, even into January is good, but the long stretch through February is always a little daunting.
Hope you are well my friend. xo
Looks like you and Reece had the same morning as me and the kiddos... Enjoy these last colorful days my friend. xox
ReplyDeleteThat doesn't surprise me :) We will, more walks planned this week, which we are both excited about.
Deletexo
Oh today we had such a beautiful walk in the woods and the mountains too... love your words :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra. Sounds like you had a lovely walk in the woods too :) One day we need to walk in the woods together....
DeleteIt really does look like the gateway into winter there, I love the second picture.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yes, slowly we are preparing for winter, it will be here soon.
Deleteyes yes and yes. I was out and about this weekend and was cold deep down inside and just loved it immensely! Crazy but I think there is nothing more beautiful than a cold frosty October day with the sun peeking out and the leaves waving hello.
ReplyDeleteWe loved it too Karen, it feels so good to breath in that fresh, cold air. And yes, I agree with you :)
DeleteKim, I can't begin to tell you how much your words and pictures are a balm to my heart and soul. :) xx
ReplyDeleteOh Leisa, I am so happy to hear that they have helped you today. xo
DeleteI love the picture of the shoes...I just love the crispness of the fall air!

Thanks! And that crispness, yes, I love it too!
DeleteWhat a beautiful time of the year to be in the woods!!! Did you get the flurries that you were expecting?
ReplyDeleteHope you are enjoying your day Kim. xoxo
Indeed! Yes, just a few, nothing major, and it melted as it hit the ground. Still it was magical to see them.
DeleteThanks Erica, hope you are enjoying your day too. xo
Absolutly beautiful...
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely, beautiful morning in the woods. We had a similar one last weekend. I'm so glad it's fall; this is the best time, as far as I'm concerned. I hope you're having a good week so far, Kim.
ReplyDeleteIt truly was, and I hope this coming weekend provides us with similar weather so we can soak up some more of the autumn goodness before its gone. I am glad it's fall too.
DeleteThanks Jennifer, I hope your week is going well too. xo
You really cannot go wrong with a walk in the woods ever but especially so in the autumn! It truly is such a magical place! Since the girls had Nature School yesterday (and what a chilly day it was) we took our nature walk today! It was such a lovely day in the woods and I am so very glad that we went! xo

You truly can't go wrong :) So glad you guys got out there to enjoy some of nature's beauty. xo
DeleteLovely! The leaves really are at peak here, too. So fun and pretty!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrea!
DeleteThere is nothing like the woods in autumn - I can almost smell it...mmm.
ReplyDeleteYou can say that again :)
Deletewe rode our bikes in the woods today warm lovely
ReplyDeleteOh, how wonderful!
DeleteWhat amazing leaves. As much as Summer is my favourite time generally, I think the woods might be best in Autumn, although it's so hard to pick a best time in the woods! Spring with buds appearing on the trees and fresh green growth and birds full of the joy of it all, and the lovely light and shade in Summer and magical frostiness in Winter, the woods are just great all year round!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I have to agree with you my friend. Every season has its own special magic about it, and for me, any season is a good season to be in the woods.
DeleteOh, beautiful colors....
ReplyDeleteThey certainly are :)
DeleteI am convinced that October is the most beautiful month, and Autumn is the most beautiful season.
ReplyDeleteLove these photos.
Both are quite beautiful, so much to look at and enjoy! Thanks Darcel.
DeleteA beautiful post. I'm so late in visiting. Autumn colors are a distant memory around here now.
ReplyDeleteYes, they are a distant memory here too.
