Chicken Cakes

It was rather quiet outside. I knew he was around somewhere, but didn't quite know where. I walked the property and found him, tucked in a little cove of the woods that surrounds our home. He had gathered a few apples from the crab apple tree, and using the stand we use to cook soup over our fire pit, was cutting the center out of the apples. He topped each piece with a flower, and fed them to the chickens.

He called them "chicken cakes". After I snapped a few pictures, he happily made a dozen or so more for his little feathered friends.

    1. Chickens love just about everything :) Oh those first eggs are so special, aren't they? We got out first egg today, from the new flock, and even though this is our third flock of chickens, it is still exciting. Enjoy those eggs KC!

  6. Oh how sweet is he?! My girls would have loved to have joined in with him in that fun!

My apologies for being M.I.A lately, dear friend! Life has been so wacky with all the renovations that I am *so* behind in so many things (especially my blog reading)! I feel bad that I have been so out of touch and I hope that now that things are coming to an end with these renovations that I'll be able to get caught up and back to my usual routine/rhythm!

I hope that your September (and grade one!) are off to a good start! I'll send you an email (or better yet a letter) soon and we can get all caught up! xo

  9. How sweet. I'm sure the chickens loved them. My kids enjoy feeding the chickens too; they bring scraps from dinner out to them most nights.
