Our Weekend

A morning spent with friends in the woods exploring and playing. The kids started seeds in egg shells, the adults chatted. A story was read, a fire started. The sun shone, snow fell, the wind whispered in our ears. It was a great start to the weekend.

We spent the rest of Friday, just hanging out at home. The day started off a little lazy on Saturday, just hanging out and enjoying time at home. I took a little time after lunch to head out on my own to get some new running shoes (much needed), visit the yarn shop and stop in at the garden center. As I drove past the conservation area on the way home it was calling out to me, so I stopped in for a little hike and a sit spot. Once home there was Mexican for dinner and then a lovely after dinner walk.

Justin boiled down the last of our sap on Saturday night and we enjoyed fresh maple syrup on our Sunday morning pancakes. After breakfast Justin and Reece played while I made some soap, and prepared food for the community potluck later in the day.

The afternoon and evening were spent with friends at a community potluck. We shared stories, watched the kids play, laughed and enjoyed good food and conversation with wonderful friends...it was the perfect way to finish the weekend.

How was your weekend?

    1. I love the community potlucks, they happen monthly, sometimes more often. We have another this Sunday, we will go tracking first and then eat and share stories around a fire. It is amazing and I am truly blessed to be part of something so wonderful.

  6. I had a great WE with lots of time spent with my almost grown up children, it's such a delight and very precious time as they have "their own life" now.
Saturday we went brunching at areally cute restaurant called cafe the provinz, here in Vienna and after that my daughter and I went thru the second hand stores of the city to find a traditional austrian dress called dirndl all afternoon, she found one for 20 euro (they are usually 100-200 at least) so this was really a bargain) I didn't find one but I am thinking of sewing ome instead, we'll see.
Sunday I spent the morning in th epark of Schönbrunn Castle and in the afternoon I made adelicious carrot cake with my youngest son knitting a bit and welcomed a music student coming down from Sweden to meet a musicprofessor here in Vienna today! Hope she's doing well... That was my weekend;)

    1. It was. We only tap four trees, and just boil for fun really. We ended up collecting about 90 liters of sap and boiled it down to 4 liters of maple syrup. I think next year we will tap a few more trees :) Glad you had a good year.
