Contemplation

There are moments, like this one,
where he seems to be deep in thought.
 I sit back, quietly,
trying to catch a glimpse
of what he holds inside.
I wonder where his mind is
and just what he is thinking.
I may never know,
but I can be there
when he is done,
with an ear to listen,
a hand to hold,
and arms
ready to embrace him.

  2. You capture the best moments of mothering. I found the best way to parent was to let them be who they are and enjoy them :)

This really resonates with me. Being there when they are done with an open ear. Lovely!

  4. Beautiful Kim. There is so much we want to hold on to with our children and so much wonder going on in them and in us. I think if we are "there" with them and for them, we might be able to catch a glimpse of what is inside. It is beautiful to share a moment of silence too, isn't it? Something I cherish with a good friend, and start to experience with my own child now.

    1. Thanks Syliva. It is so nice to share silence with them. It happens a lot for us during bedtime, those moments just before he drifts off. They are so very precious to me.

  6. Yes. Giving them freedom with their thoughts without interfering can be hard. Lovely words.
