Yarn Along

Things have been flying off the needles this week. The second fingerless glove is done, and I do love them, even if they are a little big. They still need to be blocked and I will get to that this week. I knitted up a little horse for my niece. It needs to be stuffed and sewn, but should be done to show you next week. Another little felted bowl is done and ready for gift giving. And I started my last Christmas present, a hat for Justin. I have been busy knitting it right in front of him and he has no idea...at least I don't think so. I will have to finish it up without him around so he has a little surprise on Christmas morning.

I am deep into doula reading right now, enjoying Ina May's Guide to Childbirth. I read it while I was pregnant and am now giving it a reread for my doula training. I have a totally different perspective reading it this time, which makes it very interesting.

What are you knitting and reading?

Joining in with Ginny and Nicole.

  1. Congrats on starting the last gift!! You have knit so many lovely presents since summer (?) I know you started way before I did!! I hope after blocking your mitts fit a bit better.

  2. tee hee - I love it when you can get away with knitting a gift for your husband in front of your husband and he doesn't know it's for him...so classic! Looks gorgeous, all of it!

  5. I really love those felted bowls - will have to give them a whirl someday soon.

I read Ina May prior to giving birth too. It must be so lovely being a doula - my neighbour is a midwife and she absolutely loves her job. Job description: helping to give life. Amazing!

  6. I love those little felt bowls, aren't they addicting?!? And knitting in front of your son, too cute. All too soon you'll have to start the stealth crafting, but for now enjoy the bliss of his obliviousness:-)

I'm participating this week for the first time, such fun to see what everyone is reading & knitting.

  7. The mitts! All finished up! Nice work. :) I'm also looking forward to seeing the horse. No new knitting for me. I'm still just working through Izzy's triangle ball a little at a time. Almost there!

  9. You must be so delighted to be on your last Christmas gift project! I have two more to cast on, and neither needs to be mailed (and one is for someone I will likely exchange gifts with a few days after Christmas) so I think I'll make it.

    1. Thanks, and I agree, animals are so much fun. The chickens I knit a few weeks ago will be gifted to the little man tomorrow morning for St. Nicholas Day, can't wait to see what he thinks of them.

  11. You are just moving right along. I love how we can knit right in front of them and they have now clue. I've done it with my husband, mother and mother-in-law.

Oh my goodness...Ina May. Isn't she phenomenal?!?! So much experience and wisdom. One of those people I admire so much.

  12. I always enjoy my visits here and often leave with a new idea to try in my home. I would love to knit a horse for my little wee one, would you mind sharing what pattern you used?

    1. Thanks Amy. The pattern is from Amanda Soule's book Rhythm of Family. I have used it as a guide and changed a few things each time...kinda fun to do that :)
