Hello October!

As I sit here writing this post October has arrived, the darkness has fallen on the day, much earlier than usual, my home is algow in candlelight, and it is quiet, so very quiet. I like it. I don't mind the darker evenings, I don't mind the cooler days, I don't mind the rainy days we have had because it all means one thing...I get to cozy up in my home, turn inwards and find solace and peace in the moment. I honestly love this time of year, and as I get older I find I crave the slowing down, the inward movement, the deep reflective pace of this time of year. It's good, so very good.
My little man and I hiked in the woods today, a slow, meandering kind of hike, noticing the leaves changing on the trees, and the ones that had fallen to the ground already, we heard the way the ruffed grouse drummed, and the sound of the woodpecker working away on a tree, we touched bark and smelled the flowers, we became one with the woods, and it made my heart so very happy.
Nature sends out a clear invitation this time of year to slow down, to stop and notice, to soak up each moment. We should be doing that all year long, but I feel the message is stronger this time of year, the pull deeper to really slow down, to sit back with a cup of tea, to just be.
It's what I intend to do. How about you?

  1. Oh my friend I hear you! The colors are chaging ever so slowly again this year. We are yet to have any big wind or rain storms so most of the trees are still unusually green. That is alright. I will take a slow and still season. A friend of mine posted a quote on FB that said "My favorite color is October."... I have to agree!

Have a beautiful month my friend. xo

  2. Your blog is always a spot of calm. Beautiful words attatched to beautiful meanings. Our life keeps revving up. I would love to find my way back to calm. It's sorely missed. Hugs my friend.

    1. Thank you my friend. I love this space, and am happy it feels calm. Things in my world aren't exactly calm, but I do my best to try and find a bit of calm each day, and carry it with me as long as possible.

You will find it again my friend, I promise. Seasons of life, we move through them, and then find calm again. Hugs to you too. xo

  3. I have found myself being pulled inward by the cooler weather too this year, for the past few actually. Here the weather is starting to warm, and I'm enjoying surrendering to the flow of this season too. Beautiful images Kim. Such a lovely way to spend your day. That bridge looks so beautiful! X

    1. Yes, I totally feel the same way Jennifer. Thank you, things are going well for Reece and I. A few road blocks have come our way, but together we are facing them. We are a pretty awesome team and I know the two of us can handle just about anything, together.
