3/12

A photo of my little man, once a month, on the last day of each month, in 2016

Reece, I can't believe we have reached the end of March already, just where did this month go? Although it seems the month has flown by in the blink of an eye, we still managed to soak up each and every moment as best as we could. We have filled this month with all the things we love so much...hiking, reading, crafting, cooking, visiting friends, and playing games. It was a fun-filled month, and one I think we will both remember for a long time. We have, of course, also been enjoying your homeschooling journey. Main lessons right now involve math, and you are enjoying them very much. So much so, you actually ask to do main lesson so we can do more math. This makes me smile for two reasons...the first, I too love math and working with numbers and sharing this love with you makes me happy, and two, you love learning, and that little man is something I hope you will always love. This month has not been without its frustrations, and on more than one occasion you have felt upset and angry, and been unable to properly express your feelings. I want you to know little man, that I see you, and I know it is hard at times to find the words to properly express what you are feeling, but I am here, and I understand, even when you think I don't. I will always be open and accepting to whatever you are feeling. I love you little man, with every part of my being, and I promise to always be here for you.

  1. I love the idea of writing a letter to your child at the end of each month, I know that isn't really what this is but it is beautiful none the less. March sounds like it was a busy and happy month, I hope that April is too.

  5. What a beautiful letter to your Little Man. How wonderful that he is loving this new school year so much. I know I get such a happy feeling in my heart and soul when my daughter comes home from school, excited about what she learned. I hope April is just as amazing for you both. Sorry I've been such a stranger. I promise I'll be back on top soon. xo

    1. Thanks Yanic. It is wonderful, and makes our homeschool days such a joy. I am a pretty lucky lady to have Reece and his little friend so excited about learning, makes my job much easier :)

I hope April is good to you too. It looks like we are set to start it with snow, sadly, snow coming this weekend.

  6. I wish when I was a kid that I had a good experience in learning math. Maybe then I would love it more than I do. However my math minded son tells me I am really smart in math concepts just not accurate in arithmetic....who knew??

    1. Who knew? I had no idea, so there you go :) I have always loved math, but I do know some who just do not like it, and have a hard time understanding it. I am so happy that both Reece and his little friend are enjoying it....so much more fun for me :)

  7. Isn't it wonderful to see your child love learning? To ask for more?! I never had that. Hated math. Associated it with crying. I love that my girl would never understand that. That she, too, asks for more! And now you make me realize I have let 2 months pass without following through on my "12" post commitment that you inspired.... I think I will sit down with some tea this weekend and officially join you :)

  8. So I need some advice since you are so fond of math - probably my least favorite subject and I think my littles are picking up on that! Do you use a curriculum and if so what? I would like to make learning numbers more fun for my two oldest ecspecially! Right now we are learning division and fractions....

    1. I do use a curriculum. Lavender Blue, grade 1. It is a Waldorf curriculum. My little man and his friend are in their third math block of the school year and currently working on addition, subtraction, division and multiplication...all presented through story. It is a lot of fun, and the kids love it! We also do a lot of active learning with movement, and games.

      Hopefully that helps.

  9. Beautiful words, and wonderful to be able to look back on a full month. I think a love of learning is the most important thing a child can take from their schooling, and you should take lots of credit for that, you're the one giving that to Reece and his friend.
