Summer Nature Camp Week Two

Mother Nature has been on our side for Summer Nature Camp so far, giving us beautiful summery days in which to explore and create. Last Thursday, just like our first day at camp, we spent the morning in the woods. The kids ran free, collected treasures, and found a chyrsalis, already hatched. Wild raspberries are just ripening and made the perfect trail side snack. We spent a little longer in the woods this week and little legs were tired on the way home, but we made it.

The afternoon was spent in the backyard, playing and creating. There were chickens to chase, nature journals to be drawn in, clay imprint medallions to be made, and popsicle stick bird feeders to be glued together. At one point in the afternoon the little one took a break in the hammock, and the two older ones climbed trees and ran around, free and wild.

At the end of the day all three kiddos were tired, but happy, and I was filled with gratitude to be able to spend my day with such wonderful, happy kids.

I can't wait for camp this week!

    1. Me too! It is Kristen. I have wanted to do it for a while, but various things have gotten in the way. A friend asked me to watch her two girls one day a week for the month of July, so we thought doing the nature camp was a good idea. My plan is to expand next year, maybe to 4 or 5 kids plus Reece.

Thank you, it really is a good fit for us, and I truly love sharing nature with kids.

    1. Thanks Carie. We are all enjoying ourselves immensely. Both girls are sad when it is time to go home, and the youngest one, while holding my hand in the woods last week, told me I was the best teacher ever, and that I was invited to her birthday party :) That made my day!

Thanks for popping over to read it. And yes, you will enjoy Tiffany's space, very thought provoking.

  13. Sounds like an amazing day to me. Lucky kids! :-) And your post on Tiffany's blog was wonderful. I'm actually looking into those 2 first books you mentioned. We can talk about it more in detail when we get to chat, but I'm thinking homeschooling for my son more and more. And I think Waldorf might be very suited to him. Thank you for the recommendations.
