A Little Spring Crafting

A very dear friend is celebrating a birthday this week and I have been thinking about what might be the perfect gift to say I appreciate you and am so grateful to have you in my life. We both share a love of nature and are working to strengthen that connection. We both try to live simply on this earth and in tune with the seasons. We are both on our own journeys which are stretching us past our limits, challenging us to grow and change.

I was stuck on what to give as a gift...then a little light bulb moment as I walked past a birds nest I picked up in the woods the other day. It is spring, little nests will be popping up everywhere and little eggs will be filling those nests. So I needle felted some little eggs and added them to the nest, I used a little water colour painting I did with Reece one day to make a card and glued on one of the little felted flowers I made a few weeks ago. A little gift of nature to show a friend just how much she means to me. I am pretty sure she will love it.

My shalom is coming along, but not without a few heartbreaking moments of having to unravel once, and then unknit a little bit. A little loss of focus while I was car knitting and trying to listen to one of the amazing stories my little man was telling in the back seat. Oh well, we laughed at the story and then I cried when I found the mistake. Such is life.

Doula reading is still my main focus, but I am enjoying When Children Love to Learn. A very interesting read on the philosphy of Charlotte Mason.

What are you knitting, crafting and reading this week?

And I am so sorry to hear about the shalom. Isn't it frustrating when that happens? I am sure it will be beautiful when it's done, and I hope it's all back on track now :)

    1. Thanks! Oops is right, it is tough to unravel, but I know I wouldn't be happy with the finished shalom if I hadn't done it.

  10. Such a sweet egg and nest :) Sorry about the shalom....we've all been there! I've been reading up on Charlotte Mason's work lately, too. Considering Ambleside for my elders. I love all that great literature!
