Nature Adventures

We head out on our daily nature adventure. Today we stay close to home, heading up the country road into our neighbours forest. We have no plans, we are just walking, talking, laughing and enjoying each others company. As we head into the forest, his eyes catch something in the snow. I see him smile, then he looks at me with a sparkle in his eyes...rabbit tracks he says. I say yes and we are off.

We spend the next little while following those tracks, in and out of the trees, wondering where our little friends were going and why and when they were here. We are in the moment with each other, there is no sense of time, no hurry to get anywhere, just the two of us aware of nothing but each other and the tracks we are following.

Then he spots a hole, and another hole and yet another. The tracks lead right up to the holes. There are little bits of bark and branches chewed off. He is excited, he has found the rabbit holes. We stop and look at them, peeking in as far as we can. Both of us laying in the snow trying our best to sneak a peek. We giggle.

It feels good to share this Reece, to watch as he discovers and explores the world around him. He surprises me as we walk pointing out a sumac bush, then some dogwood, a cedar tree and finally an oak leaf.  He listens and sings "chickadee dee dee" back to the chickadees. He feels comfortable in the forest. He is at home here. This connection strengthens our connection and brings so much joy and happiness to both of us.

We spend a lot of time in nature, it feels so right to be out there, to connect to something so magical and so full of wonder. It is a place we both feel comfortable, free and totally in the moment with each other. We feel her call to us every day, to come out and explore, play and be a part of all she has to offer. We accept her invitation, we play, we explore and when we are done, we express our gratitude for all she gives us.

  3. I enjoyed the walk with you and I can imagine the fresh cold air mingled with the hope of spring. It's sunny today before the snow we are to get tomorrow.
