Reece and I did manage to squeeze in a little wet felting. It was Reece's first go at it and he loved it. We used some of the wool we carded a few weeks ago and he picked red and orange wool to add to it, trying to work it in a circle pattern. Together we played in the warm, sudsy water, giggling the whole time. I don't think he really knew what was going on, but when he saw the finished project he was pretty pleased.
I also managed to carve out some time after Reece went to sleep one night to needle felt a lovely little butterfly and create a little bookmark for a dear friend. Reece and I are having lunch with her and her little ones today to celebrate her birthday, and these little treasures, I hope, will bring a smile to her face.
What have you been crafting this week?
Joining in with Ginny and Nicole.
fun craftiness and snow! i think my girl has given up on seeing snow this winter.
ReplyDeletelike the butterfly marker idea.
I would be more than willing to send the snow your way, I am pretty much ready for spring and all the goodness it brings :)
DeleteThanks!
Sweet makings!
ReplyDeleteWe have not tried wet felting. The thought of art made with giggles over sudsy water does sound like great fun.
I did pick up knitting again this week after focusing on other things... and doing some of that Kumihimo.
Have a great lunch today!
Thanks Dawn. You should try it, we had a great time. Thanks, I am sure we will.
DeleteEverything looks so lovely. I have been reading about felting. I think this is something my eldest gal would love to do. We'll have to give it a whirl:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathleen. You should try it, I bet you will both love it!
DeleteI love your projects! Small and sweet :) I'm sure your friend will love the gift.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Deletelovely felting!! I've never tried it....yet. My kids were (and still are) great fans of crafts. Reese's creation is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks. You should, I think you will like it :)
DeleteSo fun! I love the quote on the bookmark, your friend will love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, and she did!
DeleteOh what lovely projects! I'm sure your friend will treasure her gifts.
ReplyDeletelove that color. i am working on a hat. it's almost finished.
ReplyDeleteThanks, can't wait to see it.
DeleteIsn't felting fun? I took a workshop a few years ago and it was a great time :)
ReplyDeleteLucky friend! :)
Does creating a website count as crafting in some way...?!
xo
It is, I love it! And yes, I do think it counts :)
Deletehow fun. we haven't felted in awhile. maybe i should add that to some fun stuff to do this week. the book mark is lovely, what a great idea. is it all paper or is some of it fabric?
ReplyDeleteIt is, and yes you should :) It is card stock, some fabric and them more card stock, then stitched up.
DeleteHow fun that Reece is joining in your fiber crafting! Maybe I ought to look into needle felting. My sole experiment in washing machine felting was a giant fail!
ReplyDeleteI know, I love it!!! You should try it, it is fun and super easy. Sorry about the washing machine felting, I haven't had any problems doing it.
DeleteVery nice, I like the green. I love the snow and playing in it too, wish more would fall on us here in Texas but I'll take what we get - which was a beautiful White Christmas this year, so unexpected!
ReplyDeleteThanks. How nice to have a white Christmas, we had one too, first one in quite some time. It was lovely.
DeleteI had to laugh when you said Reece picked red and orange for his colors, those are the wee one's here favorite colors and she wants a sweater made with them. Must be something about being four.
ReplyDeleteSnow every day? We are 73 today and it feels so wrong!
That is so cool Tracey :) Pretty much, except yesterday and today, the temperatures on the rise over the next few days...which isn't good, everything gets messy then. My parents will be happy for those temperatures, they are heading your way in three weeks :)
Deletefelting looks so much fun, i feel like i'm missing out sometimes. but i really don't need to take on another hobby ;)
ReplyDeletethe bookmark is beautiful, i can imagine you'll get a lot of requests for them as pretty as this one is!
It is. I didn't think I needed another hobby either, but it is a fun one and projects, if small ones, are really quick. The butterfly took 25 minutes.
DeleteThank you :)
What precious little treasures! You're friend will love them, I have no doubt. Felting is on my to do list. It looks like such fun!
ReplyDeleteShe did like them :) You will love it Courtney, so much fun!
DeleteOh, you know how much we love wet felting around here! This week has been all about the needle felting though, both boys, which leaves this Mama wishing she had 6 eyes to keep on all of the little fingers as well as her own!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the snow!
Yes, I do! Reece gave needle felting a try too this week, and yeah my eyes were focused on the fingers, I am not sure I am ready for him to be going at this one too much yet, but we will see.
DeleteGorgeous Kim and I especially love the bookmark and butterfly. Beautiful. xxoo
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie!
Deletebeautiful colors!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a sweet friend. :) Enjoy the snow!
ReplyDeleteThanks my friend :)
DeleteI love your felting projects! et felting with little ones is so much fun :) ...and very sudsy :)
ReplyDeleteThe butterfly is exquisite and the cowl looks so cosy! Have a great rest of week.
Thanks so much Suzy. The wet felting was almost too much fun, the water, the suds...so much fun!!!!
DeleteSweet! and love the bookmark, it looks familiar :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisa, and yes very familiar my dear friend :)
DeleteI'm sure she LOVED them!
ReplyDeleteShe did!
DeleteTrying not to be envious of all your snow! That cowl is a cheery shade of green. Makes me anxious for spring.
ReplyDeleteDon't be, it is pretty much all gone. It was spring like here today and tomorrow a balmy 13 degrees and rain all day. It is going to be very messy. Reece was outside in the dark after dinner enjoying the snow knowing it will be gone tomorrow.
