Blueberries

Cool summer mornings are perfect for so many things and yesterday we used the one gifted to us to pick blueberries. And pick we did, 12lbs worth. Reece picked like a champ and I just tried to keep up.

The highlight of the morning was meeting one of the Harris Hawks. Pedro, born in the spring, is in training to protect the blueberry crop.

Back at home I spent some time making blueberry jam, freezing quite a few pounds and leaving just enough for us to enjoy as is.

And since blueberry season goes on for a few more weeks you can bet we will be heading back for more.

  1. We are enjoying blueberries too - although they seem to get eaten as fast as they are picked. I'm trying to set aside a few so we can actually make something:-)

  2. 12 pounds of blueberries. That's my girl! Last year I pick 30 pounds of apples.

This to me sounds like a perfect day.

  6. oh my! beautiful! we picked blueberries too this year, and it was so awesome. they got frozen...I thought they would last at least through the fall. Sadly, the didn't last more than a month. Fresh blueberries are so creamy, aren't they?

    1. Oh how lovely that would have been. If you ever visit you have to come at this time of the year so we can pick together :)
