Blueberries









Cool summer mornings are perfect for so many things and yesterday we used the one gifted to us to pick blueberries. And pick we did, 12lbs worth. Reece picked like a champ and I just tried to keep up.

The highlight of the morning was meeting one of the Harris Hawks. Pedro, born in the spring, is in training to protect the blueberry crop.

Back at home I spent some time making blueberry jam, freezing quite a few pounds and leaving just enough for us to enjoy as is.

And since blueberry season goes on for a few more weeks you can bet we will be heading back for more.

    We are enjoying blueberries too - although they seem to get eaten as fast as they are picked. I'm trying to set aside a few so we can actually make something:-)

    12 pounds of blueberries. That's my girl! Last year I pick 30 pounds of apples.

    This to me sounds like a perfect day.

    They look divine- love blueberries. It's huckleberry season in Montucky.I bet you two had a great time- perfect summers day.

    oh my! beautiful! we picked blueberries too this year, and it was so awesome. they got frozen...I thought they would last at least through the fall. Sadly, the didn't last more than a month. Fresh blueberries are so creamy, aren't they?

    Wish that we could have been there with you! I love all the berries that summer brings. Blueberries are my favorite berries.

      Yes, so many, but they are all processed into jam now and some frozen for winter smoothies :)
