Our Weekend
The usual Friday start to our weekend, little man off in the woods with his Forest Friday program and me enjoying a hike and thoughtful conversation with a very good friend. An evening at home reading and knitting, but not at the same time, I can't do that yet.
Waldorf playgroup started our day on Saturday. The afternoon was spent with friends playing in the snow, making snow forts, cooking up a stone soup over an open fire, singing and crafting, followed by the best community potluck ever...so much wonderful food and amazing people to share it with.
After breakfast on Sunday, I left Justin and Reece playing in the snow and headed to a little cafe to do some writing. Three hours to myself putting pen to paper, yes it was wonderful! When I arrived back home Justin and Reece were still outside, but they followed me in and we spent the rest of the afternoon and evening just hanging out doing whatever our little hearts desired, which for me was knitting, making body butter and reading.
How was your weekend?

***One of our winter walks is featured over at Imagine Childhood today, be sure to check it out.
What a lovely weekend. I want to visit you just to soak in some of your peace :) we hope to get back into journaling this year. How nice to be able to slip away to a cafe. Save me a seat? Be well.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome anytime :)
DeleteSounds like the perfect mix of family, friend, and alone time! Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteSo happy you had a nice week-end... Ours was slow to say the least, lots of naps, tissues and movies. But it feels like we are seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. We did get to go out for a small walk yesterday, but little miss was beat after half a mile, dad had to carry her the rest of the way. Darn these bad winter bugs!
ReplyDeleteSo happy you guys are feeling better. Reece is down for the count today, poor guy.
Deletelove that you got some time to yourself to write, that makes for one happy mother :)
ReplyDeleteOne happy mama indeed :)
Deletesounds like a great and balanced weekend! love that you made body butter, we love making our own body care goodies :)
ReplyDeleteIt most definitely was that. And yes, I make everything we need for the most part, and if I don't I purchase from local people who do :)
Deletetime for you and time with family and friend, what else? I love that too!
ReplyDeleteI know, it was perfect!
DeleteWow! Sounds like a great weekend had by all and to be able to have three hours to yourself to do your thing - so magical
ReplyDeleteGotta say, I'm curious about your body butter...
Off to read about your walk over at Imagine Childhood!
So very magical. I am trying to make it a bit of a habit. I don't think it will happen weekly, but trying for at least monthly right now. We will see how it goes.
DeleteIt is so good, been making it for two years now, love it!
Your weekend sounds nice Kim. Now would you mind sharing how you made body butter?
ReplyDeleteIt was Tracey. I love to share and I did with Meryl last year and she posted the recipe :)

I would love to attend one of these potlucks! What kinds of dishes did people bring?
ReplyDeleteYou would just love it. I should snap a pic of the potluck table next time :)
DeleteHmmm...so much goodness. Lots of salads (quinoa, bean, green), always a stew of some kind, this time there were a few dishes with sausages, kale chips, hummus and crackers, a vegan gluten free chocolate cake (which was delicious), gluten free cookies, an apple crisp and of course our stone soup (totally amazing).
Your weekends always sound like a great mix of activity and downtime. I've been so absent around here lately, but have read bits and pieces when I can and have loved watching you all soak up these winter days even if I imagine you are in the same boat when it comes to looking forward to the spring and the gardens to come. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and thank you for your sweet note in the mail recently. It made my day to find a note from a friend to brighten up these cold days.
You know Sara, we purposely set them up that way. We work very hard to make sure our weekends, and even our weekdays allow us moments of downtime. It is so important for all three of us, and we function much better as a family when we plan this way :)
DeleteI am so happy to hear that. It makes me smile to know it made you smile :)
This sounds like such a beautiful weekend. I'm off to follow that body butter link too. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteIt was. Enjoy the body butter :)
